Students began Read Across America week by reading one of Dr. Seuss’ famous books, Oh, the Places You’ll Go! and learned the theme of this book is not only relevant to young children, but to older children, and even adults as well. Students created visual representations of the “places they will go” by making a hot air balloon themed with their own goals in life – educational goals, career goals, changes they would like to make in the world, etc. which will be displayed at the end of the 5th-grade hall.
Accelerated Reading Book Project
LOCATION: ROOMS 18 and 21 in the 7th Grade Hall
Mrs. Woods and Mrs. Barker will display book projects from their advanced English students. Earlier this year, students created “Book Menus” that include a creative cover, information about genre, characters, setting, conflict, and theme. They also include a plot summary and book review. These are on display in the teachers’ classrooms, and students regularly use them to help choose their next novel. Students worked hard to produce some very creative and thoughtful projects, and we are proud to share them with parents!
