From Mr. Mahoney
August 19, 2021
Dear Students, Parents and Guardians,
I hope you have had the opportunity to enjoy the summer weather and found time to relax and enjoy your families and friends. We are looking forward to the start of the 2021-2022 school year and I am pleased to share that we will have all our students back in school five days a week. I am sure there are many questions regarding this, as well as practices and procedures related to current Covid-19 guidance. The district is in the process of reviewing the guidance and will be communicating information. Please closely monitor your ParentSquare account, email, Facebook and the district webpage for further information. At this time, please carefully read the following information and contact me, firstname.lastname@example.org, if you have any questions.
Returning to school full time: As exciting as it is that we are able to return to school full time five days a week, we realize that this is a change from last year. This transition for some may be difficult at first; others will have no issue, while for some, issues may arise as we move through the year. In any case, we want to assure you that we will be closely monitoring students and are committed to providing them the support they need to be successful. If you have any questions, concerns, or information regarding your child returning to school that you would like to discuss or share, please contact their counselor, Mrs. Kelleher for students whose last names begin with the letters A-K or Mrs. Crelley for students whose last names begin with the letters L-Z.
School Hours are 7:30-2:55 - the front doors will open at 7:15.
We will run a nine-period schedule with eight 40-minute classes, a 25-minute extra help period at the end of the day and a 40-minute advisory period. You can access the schedule by clicking on this link. The half-day schedule is here.
Breakfast and Lunch:
Breakfast will be available during the Advisement period. Students will pick up breakfast after the school announcements, and return to their Advisement room.
Lunch will be served as usual.
WFL-BOCES: Wayne and Technical Career Center (WTCC) and New Vision students:
Start date for these programs is September 7, 2021.
Students will not be allowed to drive as they did last year. Students can receive special permission from WTCC and the building principal on an one-day emergency pass basis.
The WTCC and New Vision programs will be sending out additional information to students and families in these programs.
Please watch ParentSquare for Gananda WTCC/New Vision specific information.
We look forward to seeing you September 7!
