Counselor’s Chronicle
Vale Middle School
Farewell Vale Community!
We have had the honor and pleasure of serving the Vale community and have enjoyed working with you and your child over the last several years. We are thankful for the opportunity to watch your children grow throughout their middle school years and to hear about all of the great things they are doing in high school. Although next year may bring some new faces, we know that your children will be in good hands and continue to receive quality service from the counseling
department.
We will be on contract through June 9th if you need to reach out to any of us.
Important Dates
Enjoy your summer!
Credit Protection/Attendance Recovery
Credit protection is still in effect for students who did not pass Algebra and Spanish. They will have until June 18th to complete coursework from any marking period.
Students who need attendance recovery can still make up time by attending in-person attendance recovery starting Monday, June 7-June 18th. Please see the attached document for times and dates.
STAAR Results
Families will be able to access their child’s spring 2021 state assessment scores along with tailored resources by mid-summer. Score history can be viewed 24/7 by logging into NISD’s Home Access Center (HAC) and choosing the Texas Test Scores tab. This connects to the Texas Assessment Student Portal for families.
As always, the results will include detailed information in each subject, including areas of strength and gaps in learning, actual test questions, and tailored resources parents can use at home to support learning.
If you do not currently have a HAC account, you may follow the instructions here to create one.
Once the account has been created, parents may view their child’s state assessment score history by following these steps attached:

RESOURCES
Free Meals for children 18 years and under
Northside ISD knows that hunger doesn’t take a break during the summer months, so the District is providing free breakfast and lunch to children 18 years and younger at 59 participating schools during the summer.
Meals will be served in-cafeteria setting as we transition to a traditional style of meal service. Children who are 18 years and younger may eat in the cafeteria regardless if they attend NISD schools or live in the District. Grab-n-Go Meals will also be available for children not eating in the cafeteria. (No curbside service is available.)
Dates, times, and additional details can be found here.
Sign up for P-EBT benefits beginning June 2
Pandemic Electronic Benefits Transfer (P-EBT) is a one-time benefit for families who have lost access to free or reduced-price meals because of closures related to COVID-19. The application for P-EBT will open June 2 and close Aug. 13. P-EBT works the same way the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits do and will help families get the food they need during the current pandemic.
