A Note from the Principal
Hello Giesinger Eagle Families,
We are excited to welcome students back to our building on Wednesday, August 11th! Our goal is to provide the safest learning environment for our students and staff. With the rise of COVID-19 cases in our community, we continue to encourage hand washing and staying home when sick. Wearing a mask or face covering, while optional, is also encouraged. These measures helped keep our schools open last year, and we are confident they can help slow the spread this year.
COVID Update
The number of positive cases have increased in Montgomery County. The county is seeing vaccinated and un-vaccinated individuals get the virus. With that said, the county is reporting that the severe cases and hospitalizations are 95%+ un-vaccinated individuals. The county is reporting that vaccinated individuals appear to be having more minor symptoms (fever, aches, flu like).
Illness
If your child is running a fever or showing symptoms of illness (throwing up, diarrhea, etc.), you should keep them at home until symptoms subside and they are fever free for at least 24 hours. Please consult your family doctor if you feel necessary for guidance.
COVID-19
If your child is not feeling well and you suspect COVID-19 and/or have them tested and they are positive, you should report the positive test (with documentation) to the nurse immediately. You will be required to keep your child at home for at least 10 days. COVID symptoms must have subsided and they are fever free for at least 24 hours. Please consult your family physician for additional steps and assistance as needed.
Please note that if a student tests positive for COVID-19, we will send out a general email notifications if the positive person was on campus all or part of the day. We will also notify parents of children that were in the same class as a positive person with a classroom email notification. Please note that we will not be quarantining students or conducting contact tracing this year.
Masks
The wearing of masks is optional but encouraged. We respect everyone’s personal choice regarding wearing a face covering and expect everyone to handle the situation with respect and appropriateness.
Attendance
Please know that students are still required to meet the elements of the state attendance laws.
Building Access
During this time of increased COVID cases, we ask that visitors limit their campus visits.
Communication
We ask that you communicate with the school when your child is absent for any reason. We are able to support you and your child when we are aware of the situation. We appreciate the communication and your support.
Thank you,
Melissa Ralston, Principal
Meet-the-Teacher: Monday, August 9th
Monday is Meet-the-Teacher! In an effort to reduce the amount of traffic, we are staggering this event by your child's last name. If possible, please visit our campus during the following times:
A-L: 4-5 PM
M-Z: 5-6 PM
This is a come-and-go event. It is also a great time to drop off your child's school supplies in his/her classroom. Please pick up car/walker dismissal tags from your child's teacher.
All registered students should have received an email with a video link telling you who your child's teacher is for this year. You may stop at the front office during Meet the Teacher if you did not receive the email.
Our teachers and staff are excited to welcome our Eagles back to school!
