Principally Speaking: Learning All the Way to the End
Lucky me! I have won the most student votes in the form of submitted box tops. My prize is to receive a "pie in the face" on the last day of school. The only thing still left to be determined is who gets to pie me. Students will have the opportunity to enter wampums into a drawing to pie me the last day of school. Wampums are earned for good student behavior. The more wampums that are submitted by an individual student the more his or her probability of being selected goes up! There will also be a few $10 - $15 gift cards to be drawn for in addition to being named the pie-master. Our goal is to incentivize our students into finishing the year out in a focused, positive manner. Wish me luck!
We will continue to be purposeful and intent on using our learning time well through the very last day of school. Teachers and students are preparing for the administration of final exams and/or final projects or performance tasks as we speak. The exam schedule is as follows:
o Thursday, May 17 – Science
o Friday, May 18 – Social Studies
o Monday, May 21 – Math
o Tuesday, May 22 – ELA
o Wednesday, May 23 - Red Related Arts
o Thursday, May 24 – White Related Arts
Please help us to continue to maintain a safe environment that is conducive to student learning and free from distraction. You can help us by monitoring your student's dress for modesty and asking him or her to keep the cell phone in the locker. Cell phones are going to be the death of us. They are to be in the lockers during the school day.
Thank you for your help, and as always, I am blessed to serve your students, this community, and you in the role of principal.

4th to 5th Grade Student and Parent Transition Meetings are Coming Soon
Parents of current South Elementary 4th graders are invited to attend a Parent Transition Meeting on the evening of Tuesday, May 22, from 6:30 to 7:30 PM. Parents will take part in a similar orientation to what students will experience. Our goal is to ease any anxiety on the part of both students and parents.
Are You Moving?
It is that time of year when we begin to turn our sights toward next year. To that end, we are asking that parents who know you will be moving out of the Danville district next year to please contact Mrs. Horan. This helps us to create class lists and also prepare records at the end of the year to forward to your child's new school. We hate to see you go but want to make your move as easy as possible so your child has a smooth transition.
