A few reminders and information regarding after school extra- curricular activities and expectations:

If students will be attending after school UIL activities such as football and volleyball games, we ask that you communicate with them in advance to follow school guidelines and expectations for behavior as well as transportation.

Please be here to pick up your child in a timely manner. It is a safety concern to be left alone after a game due to not being picked up on time. Our administration makes every effort to make sure students start to call for their rides when we know the game is about to end but sometimes the students wait until as late as 20 minutes later to start making their calls which leaves our staff to sit with them and not get home to their own families. Games are usually over between 8:00 and 8:30 at the latest. We ask that you are here no later than 8:15 to pick up your child. Many of them do not know their parents phone numbers and this has also caused issues with after school transportation. Please be sure your student knows the correct phone number to contact you in case of emergency such as game cancellations, lightening delays, etc.

Please review the below information with your child:

As HAWKS we want to always display our core values of Honesty, Ambition, Willingness, and Kindness. School rules must be followed and discipline consequences my be applicable while at school events. We want our students to show school pride and spirit in a respectful manner and enjoy games. If they are not acting appropriately or not picked up on time, they may be asked not to attend in the future. In serious cases they may even be asked to leave a game.

We appreciate your help and support!

A Message from the Nurse

-Hearing and Vision screenings will be performed on 7th grade students on September 30th and October 1st. If your child wears glasses or hearing aids, please make sure they have them at school every day. We will also check 7th grade students for Acanthosis Nigricans (AN), a skin marker found on the back of the neck that is a possible result of high insulin levels in the blood, which can be a precursor to Type II Diabetes -Spinal screenings will be done on all of our 7th grade girls on Tuesday, October 8th and 9th. Spinal screenings will be done on October 15th and 16th for 8th grade boys in a private setting. If any abnormalities are detected, referral letters will be sent home regarding the need to follow up with your child’s physician.

Technology Center

Parents, if you are going to drop off your student's chromebook at the front office, please make sure they are aware you are doing so. We will not deliver the chromebook to your student. They must come to the Repair Center to pick it up.

Did you know that all Hofius students can check out and read FREE ebooks and audiobooks on their chromebooks and other personal devices through the library OverDrive? Go to this link: bit.ly/HofiusEbooks and click on Intermediate Login. Library Card Number = student ID number with no S; PIN = last four digits of student ID. The Hofius Library is also open daily for students to check out print books! On average, students who read 20 minutes a day at home will score in the 90th percentile on standardized tests, so we want our Hawks to read every day! Follow @HofiusLibrary on Twitter and Instagram for more information about reading and library activities.
