NOW OPEN: 2020 - 2021 Kindergarten Registration

Kindergarten pre-registration for the 2020-2021 school year is now open.

Completed enrollment packets can be dropped off at Dryden during Kindergarten Registration, which will take place on Wednesday, January 22, 2020 between 9:30 - 11:00 AM or 4:00 - 6:45 PM.

Neon Color Day, January 17

Brighten up the dark winter days with neon colors on Friday, January 17. Students are invited to dress up in bright colors as much as possible from head to toe. Let your true colors and creativity shine!

Winter MAP Reports

Elementary NWEA MAP reports for students in 2nd - 5th grade will be sent home via backpack mail on Friday, January 17. South Middle School will send NWEA MAP reports home on January 24. These assessments measure the academic areas of math and reading and assist staff in evaluating your child's instructional level. If you would rather pick up your child's report in person, please contact our school office at (847)398-4280 and we will have it ready for you to pick at the end of the school day on January 17.

Martin Luther King Day, January 20

Please note that there will be no school on Monday, January 20 due to the Martin Luther King Day holiday. We wish your family an enjoyable three-day weekend and look forward to seeing everyone back at Dryden on Tuesday, January 21. The next Splash newsletter will be sent out to families on the evening of January 20.

Superintendent's Open Door, January 21

Superintendent Dr. Lori Bein is taking her “Open Door” on the road. She will be at Dryden School in the conference room on Tuesday, January 21 from 3:00 - 5:00 PM. Feel free to stop by to ask questions, share concerns, or just say "hello”.

VARIETY SHOW ACTS NEEDED!

Calling all Dryden Students! Do you have a special talent that you’d like to share with the Dryden Community?! Now’s your chance! The Dryden Variety Show auditions will be held on Tuesday, January 14th, and the Show will be held on Friday, February 21st! All ages and all school appropriate acts are welcome (example: dance, magic, song, poetry). You can perform a solo piece or with a group.


To Sign Up, Start Here: If interested, please start by filling out the form below so that we have all of the necessary information. If performing in a group, you only need to submit one form on behalf of the group but be sure to include the name of each performer (this is displayed on the Google form. Sign ups close MONDAY, JAN 13 at noon.

PTA Book Fair, January 28-30

The Scholastic Book Fair will be taking over the LMC January 28 - 30. The Book Fair will be open during regular school hours (closed during the lunch hour). All students will have the opportunity to visit the Book Fair with their class.


New this year, starting January 13, you’ll have the option to load money in an eWallet for students so they can spend prepaid funds at the book fair. Click here, (https://www.scholastic.com/bf/drydenelementaryschool7) scroll down, and follow eWallet instructions.


If you'd like to preview the books that will be available or if you'd like to shop online, you can visit our online Scholastic website (https://www.scholastic.com/bf/drydenelementaryschool7). Online shopping will be available January 22 - February 4. Books ordered online will be shipped to Dryden and delivered to your student.

Family Reading Night, January 30

Get ready for a cozy night of reading with your family! Dryden's annual Family Reading Night will be on Thursday, January 30 at 6:30 PM. Wear your jammies and get ready to listen to stories read to you and your whole family by your favorite Dryden staff members. The PTA Book Fair will be set up in the LMC that night, so you can purchase some great books, too! Family Reading Night will end at 8:00 PM after a whole group story and bedtime snack in the gym, but the book fair will be open until 8:30 PM.
