WMHS Weekly Information
February 5 - 9
From the Principal's Desk
Zebra Nation,
We have had an uptick in fighting at WMHS over the last week. The fighting has to stop! WMHS will be a safe place for our staff and students to be.... Please know that choices have consequences - if you choose to fight in school, there will be a suspension, a ticket, and a possible future court date. Make good choices. Do not fight! Having an issue with another student? Please see a trusted adult in the building and let us help to support you, the situation, and run restorative sessions to diffuse the situation. You got this! We got you! #StrongerTogether
Happy February! The month of February is 'Black History Month'. At WMHS, we will have different lessons and activities happening throughout the month. Our Black Student Union will also be running a Black History Spirit Week, February 12-16. More information to come on that in next week's Sunday communication.
RivalZ Week is THIS week. A week filled with pride and spirit, ending on Friday with our unified basketball game, and home basketball games against JGHS. #BeatTheRockets
William D. Ford Career Technical Center will be hosting their open house on Tuesday, February 6, 2024 from 6-8 p.m. The "Fire Up Your Future" is a great opportunity for students and families to learn about our programs and the post-secondary options available to them. Contact Information: Kristin Chiasson. CTE Coordinator at William D. Ford Career Technical Center. 734-419-2116.

WEEKLY THOUGHTS:
- Two Types of Goals
- 'Short Term'. Examples = Earn a 'B' on the next science test. Or earn an 'A' on my next social studies project.

- Be S.M.A.R.T. when setting your Goals
- S = Specific. What exactly do you want to accomplish?
- M = Measurable. How will you know when you meet your goal?
- A = Attainable. Is it possible to reach your goal within your timelines? What steps are need to reach your goals?
- R = Relevant. Why is your goal important? Why do you want to accomplish this goal?
- T = Timely. How long will it take to achieve your goal?

Cool Classrooms
How many people could you fit into a classroom? How many drops of water are in the WMHS swimming pool? How many bricks were used to build Wayne Memorial?
These are examples of Fermi problems. The project-based math class is exploring Fermi problems similar to these. Students designed a mathematical process to solve their problem, and shared their thinking with the class.
Senior Project-Based Math is an option to satisfy the graduation requirement for a fourth year of math. A wide variety of topics and projects are addressed through this course. Rising seniors, if you're interested in this course, speak to your counselor as you engage in the scheduling process for next school year.
