Dragon Tales

Dessau Elementary will foster a child's love of learning
and support academic and social growth.
Our mission this week...
We will make it a priority to look around us and within us to identify positive things that are happening on campus.
I will post at least one positive observation about others and one positive observation about myself on the wall in our staff hallway (on the way to the lounge). Feel free to post more than one positive observation :)
Kudos:
- Jessica for working tirelessly to find us subs each day! What a champion for our campus!
- Ms. Anderson, Ms. Henry and Intervention: thanks for dropping what you were doing to support campus needs on Friday! Thank you for supporting our kids in a different way!
- Thank you Kindergarten for your endless flexibility! It is a tribute to your skills and professionalism to see how your team kids are thriving.
- Thank you Ms. Henry for keeping our No Place for Hate Student Committee moving forward!
- GO ICs GO! Wow ladies! What a balancing act of exploring new services and keeping things running! Thank you!
- Ms. Andresen for supporting our students at the Austin Regional Science Fair this weekend.
- Thank you CIP team for accompanying me to our first planning session. I love your clear vision for our campus!
- Thank you Ms. Crow for thinking about campus needs and inviting our behavior specialist to be available to all teachers Tuesday after school. What a great way to support all of your colleagues!
Have a happy last week of February!

PBIS Corner
PBIS team: stay tuned for an invitation to a meeting. Feel free to expedite things by entering your thoughts on dismissal onto the problem solving document I sent out a couple of weeks ago (everyone should have editing rights). Due to the continued concerns with lunch, we will also revisit our lunch schedule to see what we can do.
Lunch update: Thank you for providing Ms.Silva with seating charts for lunch. After your helpful feedback in our staff meeting, I was able to quickly visit with the Aramark Director. He shared that they spent the last part of the week training a new cashier. He also said they continued to work with PK-1 students to help them get used to the new scanning cards. He believes these two things will get us moving a little faster.
Keep your ideas flowing to your PBIS committee member!
Things to know...
- TELPAS testing (on-line) begins Monday and will last all week long. Remember that these are official state assessments that effect the student and the school. You can show your support by being aware of where testing is occurring and keep your students very quiet :)
- A-Team off campus this Wednesday
- T3 training this week will include behavior training for gen ed teachers too! Ms. Crow invited our behavior specialist to visit with anyone having questions or needing help! Come join them Tuesday!
- Still need volunteers for Thursday night with the school dance.
- Busy week, look at the calendar closely
- SLO's: Make sure you are collecting your data points :)
- Remember that next week is Dr. Seuss week which means DRESS UP DAYS! Look at the calendar for details!
Who won some extra help this week?
Ms. Jaimes & Ms. Bartles
Ms. Riojas will reach out to you to share her availability! She can help you grade papers, update your bulletin board, work with a group of students, make copies or help you organize your space. What a wonderful way to appreciate teachers!
