Tiogue Faculty & Staff Bulletin
At-A-Glance September 1, 2018 #1
Thanks for a great opening! Given how many new faculty and staff started at Tiogue this year, and how many different directions we all need to move over the course of the day, things went incredibly well! Great teamwork.

SEL/Restorative Practice's Corner
This excerpt from the article really hit home for me:
"A trauma-informed, SEL, cultural awareness model of supports allows (educators) to create a safe environment to address trauma and SEL skill build, while also tapping into the strengths and opportunities of students' culture.
In this way, prevention assets don't just build on each other, they multiply," says Dr. Gregory Leskin, Ph.D, Director at UCLA/Duke University National Center for Child Traumatic Stress.

Conscious Discipline
I'll occasionally post a few videos here from Conscious Discipline. The first video below is about I Love You Rituals. It is a moving video about how making connections in school and in life will help to create "family". By adding some of these concepts to our philosophy and teaching, we are going to take our SEL work to the next level, during this upcoming school year.

Nurse's Corner of important information
Welcome back!
RIDE and OSHA require all teachers to complete a Universal precaution (required), and Epi Pen (not required, but encouraged) training yearly. I will be reviewing both of these at our orientation.
For Universal Precautions:
Here is the training on RIDE where you can read through and print a certificate of completion. This is REQUIRED bloodborne pathogens training. Please sign the certificate of completion and turn it into me. I am required to keep a record of completion.

For Epi Pen:
Here is the link to the Epi Pen video, please cut and paste in your browser. It reviews sign and symptoms of anaphylaxis (life threatening allergy), and shows you how to administer an Epi Pen.

Reminder: IXL Information for the 2018-19 SY
This will mean that all users (Teachers & Students) from Tiogue must use their regular credentials, but sign in on the Coventry custom domain page at https://www.ixl.com/signin/coventry.
If you do not sign in using the new webpage, you will get an "expired account" message.
Finally, because all schools will have access to IXL from now on, we will only have access to the mathematics. ELA will no longer connect for us.
Thanks,
Dom
