Real Money Real World
The 8th grade students will be participating in the Real Money Real World program on Friday, May 17th. Real Money Real World is a financial literacy program for junior high students. There are three primary goals to the program:
1. To increase participants' awareness of how education level and corresponding career choice influence personal income and financial security.
2.To increase the students’ knowledge of money management tools used in daily spending for cost-of-living decisions.
3. To increase participants’ awareness of how income and lifestyle choices affect the amount of money available for discretionary spending.
Students will participate in a hands-on budget management and decision-making spending simulation. Students will visit 14 different stations to purchase all items needed to survive for one month such as housing, car insurance, groceries, day care, etc.
In order for students to experience the Real Money Real World simulation, we are need of parent volunteers to help at the various stations. If you would be willing to help out, please contact Mrs. Carmack as soon a possible at 696-2591 or stephanie.carmack@valleyview.k12.oh.us

7th Grade Historical Building Contest Winners
All 7th grade Junior High Art classes participated in the Historical Building Contest, “The Way We Were.” The students used local, historically significant buildings that they chose as the subject matter for a perspective painting lesson. Students learned to create distressed, vintage looking paintings using multiple mediums (watercolor, charcoal and tempera paint). This project was designed to teach the students about the rich culture and significance they can make on future generations. We hope to instill the attitude that our students can continue the legacy of communicating the importance of rich heritage and building preservation.
The Historical members have worked with Mrs. Evans and students for multiple years organizing the contest and awarding 25 students with a gift bag full of goodies. They also visit the Junior High School 3 times a year to talk to each and every student about their building and answer any questions they had. All buildings will be on display at the Junior High on May 6th for community, parents and students to view during the Choir/Band Concert.
