Mrs. Sanders' Language Science Class

Welcome to a new school year at Rockbrook Elementary!

I'm so excited about the new school year. This is my 14th year at Rockbrook Elementary School and my 22nd year of teaching. I have loved getting to know my new students these past couple of weeks and catching up with my students from last year. We have been reviewing their skills from last year. We have been talking about our talents and learning about the talents of some famous people who also had dyslexia. Check out the pictures below of our classroom!

Recommended reading

Overcoming Dyslexia: By Sally E. Shaywitz

Description: From one of the world's leading experts on reading and dyslexia, the most comprehensive, up-to-date, and practical book yet to help us understand, identify, and overcome the reading problems that plague American children today.

The Dyslexic Advantage: By Brock and Fernette Eide

Description: This book explains the hidden potential of the dyslexic brain. It explains how it works and how we can help students achieve more.

I highly recommend both of these books. I wish I had read them when my dyslexic son was in school.
