iReady Mid-Year Diagnostic Data

This month, our students took the iReady mid-year diagnostic for reading and math in grades K-5. I am very proud of the mid-year achievement and growth that our students have shown since the fall diagnostic. You will receive the iReady reports with your child's report card in January. Below you see a high level overview of the growth from the fall (August) to the mid-year (December) diagnostic.

  • Tier 1 represents on or above grade level
  • Tier 2 represents one grade below
  • Tier 3 represents two or more grade levels below

The median percent progress towards Typical Growth for our school for reading is 91% and for math is 72%. Typical Growth is the average annual growth for a student at their grade and baseline placement level. At this point in the year, the expected median growth is around 50% and 100% by the end of the year.

Reading and ELA Textbook Adoption

Our district is in the final phases of adoption a new textbook series for Reading and Language Arts for Kindergarten through 5th grade. The textbook options have been narrowed down to two resources: My View and Wonders. Parents and teachers are invited to review the two resources and complete the electronic survey located on the district website (

Materials for the two textbook series are set up in the Media Center for public review now through January 21st between the hours of 7:10-7:40am or 2-3:30pm. If needed, please reach out to the CST, Colleen Greathouse, at to schedule an alternate time to review the materials. Please check in at the front office (bring your driver's license) when you come to review the resources.

The selection of the textbook resource will be recommended to the FCS school board late second semester, with a final decision made in May.
