Sandy Bermea - Principal
Dear Parents and Guardians,
We are providing one more opportunity to pick up supplies on May 19, 2020 from 4:00pm-5:30pm. We need any and all library books your child has checked out. We also have a tub for library book returns outside the cafeteria. I hope your family is safe and healthy. We miss our students!!!
Students,
We miss seeing you everyday. Continue to to work hard and turn in your assignments. Please look for your library books and turn them in, so we can have a great selection of books next year.
Stay strong panthers!!

Five Outdoor Literacy Ideas
There’s no reason learning the ABCs needs to be limited to an indoor space. In fact, there are lots of ways to encourage a love of reading and writing by spending time outside.
1. Read outside - Grab a few books and head outside. Bring along a blanket to sit on, find a tree to lean up against or cuddle up in an outdoor fort. Read together or allow your child time to him or herself.
2. Paint alphabet rocks - Gather up some rocks from around the neighborhood or a local park. You can create a set of alphabet rocks by painting letters on each rock with acrylic paint.
3. Make story stones - More drawing on rocks – this time using pictures instead of letters. Create nature-themed images and then take turns telling stories using the stones as prompts.
4. Create your own nature ABC book - Go on a nature hunt with your little one – around your neighborhood, backyard, park, or garden. Look for something to represent each letter of the alphabet. Then draw a picture of that image and make your very own ABC book.
5. Use nature for letter and word making - Kids just learning their letters will have fun shaping letters using items found in nature such as rocks, sticks or flower petals. For the older kids, they will have a great time creating words with all of the nature items found.Kristin Welch - Math Specialist
Taking Math and learning outdoors is a great way to engage and motivate your kiddos from being indoors and cooped up. The fresh air and change of scenery can be just what your children need to get excited about playing with and practicing math concepts. Below is a link of some fun activities, along with everything you will need to set up some family math outdoor fun.
The Nurse's Office
Christie Neuman - Campus Nurse
From the nurse,
If your child takes medication at the school letters are being sent out to remind you for pick up. Please keep an eye out for the dates of pick up as I was informed it will go out electronically. If there is a dire need for them please email me at christie.langley-neuman@mvisd.org to make arrangements. Otherwise, hope everyone is doing well and look forward to seeing everyone next year.
