In addition, Ms. Saadi has agreed to continue supporting 7th grade students in her room. Please contact her for math specific questions.
Library News and Events
- Calling all Musicians! Fridays in May, the library will host a "Music Cafe" where students can perform (instruments or singing) during their lunch times! Students can sign up with Ms. Anderson in the library.
- All students should check Destiny Library accounts online (on student bookmark page, click READ icon-Stoller- Destiny) and return any overdue materials. If books are being used for a class assignment, keep them until the assignment is done. Thanks for your help in getting books back to the library!
Technology/Social Media Tip
Be Informed
Last reminder...
The purpose of this brief article is to inform you of an activity called “juuling.” While we do not see the same behaviors our high schools see, we are aware of this activity (and the allure of it), especially with our older students. Our health curriculum addresses these topics at all three grade levels and asks students to think about the dangers associated with this trending behavior. This semester our students read the following article from the New York Times: Dangers of Vaping. In addition, 'Juuling': The most widespread phenomenon you’ve never heard of from the Boston Globe provides some additional information. If appropriate, we encourage you to review these articles with your children and talk about the dangers of e-cigarettes and vaping. If you have further questions or would like more information, Westview PTO is sponsoring a parent enrichment night on May 17th from 6:30 - 8:00pm at Westview High School. Please see their attached flyer: Westview Parent Night. At Stoller, we encourage our students to report vaping activity to a trusted adult. Administration will respond as outlined in our discipline handbook.
Local Option Levy Renewal
As you may or may not know, our community is facing some important decisions on this spring's ballot. One item on the ballot is a vote asking the community to renew a levy that funds teachers in BSD classrooms.
Currently, 10 Stoller teachers are funded by our levy and 300 teachers are funded district wide. A continuation of the levy would prevent a class size increase of 4-6 students per class. The levy does not increase the current tax rate.
Please note that ballots must be received by 8pm on May 15th, so anyone wishing to mail in their ballot should do so by May 13th.
If you would like further information click the BSD link provided here: https://www.beaverton.k12.or.us/news/Pages/School-Board-Authorizes-Local-Option-Levy-Renewal---Election-May-15,-2018.aspx
Safe Schools Grant and Survey
Please Read!
The Beaverton School District received a Safe Routes to School grant. The purpose of this program is to make walking and rolling (biking, scooting, bus) to school safe, convenient and fun. Many schools have made huge progress!
One of the requirements of the grant is to get some information about how our students are now traveling to school and what parents think about the routes to school. In order to collect this data we ask that you please fill out the Parent Survey generated from the National Safe Routes to School Center. The school’s survey will be open for responses until May 31st.

It's Not Too Early to Think about College!
Going to college doesn’t “just happen." Your student needs to prepare for the future by learning how to make plans to reach his or her goals.
There are countless websites and resources about going to college - it's hard to know where to begin. Oregon Goes To College is a great place to start! It focuses on the basic information about college with Oregon-specific resources and examples.
