Phoenix Flyer

August 30, 2021

Hello Phoenix Families

Welcome to the end of August!

As we finish one month and enter another, it is a good time to look at goals. My goal for the beginning of September is to listen. I would like to make myself available for any parent/guardian that would like to take five minutes to discuss the "why" of your decision to entrust us with your child's education. Below is a link to a Google form. On it, you will be given the choice to come to a "Principal's Chat" or take a short phone call from me. I am looking both for what you see as the strengths of this program and also areas where you believe we can improve. If you are interested in having your voice heard, please fill out the form so we can talk.

This Monday school is not in session because of the Labor Day holiday. On June 28, 1894, Congress passed an act making the first Monday in September of each year a legal holiday. According to the Department of Labor's website, Labor Day is an annual celebration of the social and economic achievements of American worker. This federal holiday recognizes the many contributions workers have made to America's strength, prosperity, and well-being. We hope you have a fun and safe holiday weekend.

Attention 10th Grade Parents!!

Did you miss a Back to School Night presentation because of a scheduling snafu?

The three teachers involved have graciously agreed to do it all again! If you would like to see their BTSN presentations, they will be repeating them This Tuesday, August 31st.

As I scheduled all three 10th grade presentations for the same time, you should have seen one. With that logic in mind, I scheduled all three teachers to present twice. If you missed two sessions, you can go to one first then the other. If you somehow popped into two sessions, you can just go to one. All three teachers will present at 6:30 and 6:45

The Google links were emailed to the 10th grade parents separately

Thank you for your patience and support.

Join The Tabletop Role Playing Game Club

This club will allow students to be introduced to Tabletop Roleplay Games (TTRPG) in a safe environment, express creativity, and mainly have a lot of fun in a game that allows for endless possibilities.

This club will focus on the TTRPG game known as Dungeons and Dragons and will consist of a homebrewed version, made by your local funny guy, Ryan McCombs, based on a popular anime series known at Hunter x Hunter. This anime in combination with the rules and strategy of Dungeons and Dragons will create a fun environment that allows students to explore the true depth of their creative minds.

Meetings will be held on Fridays from 12:00pm-1:00pm in TR-4. Contact Ryan McCombs if you have any questions 5116653@prpk.org

Another Way to Support HSMC

Good news to any HSMC supporters out there that shop at Office Depot!

You can now provide our Give Back to Schools ID #70118038 at checkout in store or enter it online on the Thank You confirmation page after you complete your online purchase. With the Give Back to Schools program, 5% of qualifying purchases are given to your school of choice as a credit towards free school supplies!

If you forgot to provide our ID at checkout, you can simply visit the Give Back to Schools website to apply our ID to your transaction (be sure to save your receipt/order ID for this step). Currently we do not require that our students purchase their own school supplies as we do our best to provide all the materials they will need in class but for those family members who purchase qualifying office supplies (see Qualifying Products PDF for general list) for their own household or business needs this would be a great way to support HS@MC and get quality products to boot!

To request a wallet sized Give Back ID card (perfect size for your next trip to Office Depot!), please email Mrs. Gaeta at mgaeta@mrpk.org or stop by our main office during our usual business hours.

Moorpark College Student Health Center Consent For Treatment

Your child was given a blue copy of the Moorpark College Student Health Center Consent For Treatment letter.

If your child becomes ill here at school, they have access to the Moorpark College Student Health Center. As we are extremely limited in our ability to provide care, we rely on the Student Health Center to provide care for our ill students.

In order for them to provide care, they must have the consent form on file. If you have not already done so, please sign the blue form and return it to the office. If you cannot find it a fillable pdf has been provided for your convenience. Just click on the link below, fill it out, and either print it or email it in to us. We will print it on blue paper for you.

Thank you.
