Celebrating the dedication of our high school programs and welcome the next generation of elementary-middle school students.
We recognized high school students, facilitators, mentors, and partners for their commitment and accomplishments this year with awards and gifts.
Our keynote speaker and first student recipient of CPS Girls To Women Laura Mitchell Sheroe Award was Anairis Ellis 12th grade G2W Captain for Woodward Career Technical High School.
We also heard from many Sheroes including CPS Superintendent Laura Mitchell and Sonia Jackson Myles of The Sister Accord organization recipient of the CPS Girls To Women Laura Mitchell Sheroe Award.
We also presented the first Girls To Women Crown Award to Brianca Gay Woodward Facilitator and Katie Mason G2W Captain Oyler, Activities Beyond the Classroom Pow-Her-Ful Award to Dayahn Thomas Dater HS Facilitator and Sha'moni McGee G2W West High student, and The Sister Accord Award to Jada Rodgers Shroder HS G2W Captain.
Students were presented with Girls To Women lapel pins, a custom made charm bracelet by Lisa Robin Sister Accord Collection, and custom made Dream Big Necklace by Junebug Jewelry Design.
Seniors also received graduation stoles and shared with us their pathways; Enrolled, Enlisted or Employed. Their final leadership assignment was to welcome the elementary-middle school student captains and co-captains in a special presentation. The seniors shared words of wisdom, presented the Girls To Women official swag bag and they pinned each student with the Girls To Women lapel pin.
