Principal's Greeting

Hello Falcon Families,

Happy May! I want to start this newsletter with a big Shout Out and Thank You to the amazing staff we have at Marrs! This is Staff Appreciation Week and I have worked in several schools/districts so I can say, with confidence, we have the best and most dedicated staff at our school. Throughout this most difficult school year they have proven, over and over, how much they love our students and are dedicated to their success. Thank-you for all you have done, and continue to do, to support and lift up our amazing students! You are the best!!

Families, please continue to check emails so you are up to date on how we will need to safely and successfully wrap up the school year as well as prepare for the upcoming 2021-22 school year. In addition, read this newsletter and check our website regularly regarding the most current information relating to summer and fall.

Our 8th grade students will have graduation on May 21st at 1:30 pm. At this time we still cannot have families come into the building but it will be taped so parents can access it at a later date. We are excited to have several students being recognized as Rotary Scholars and three 8th grade students who were recognized for outstanding achievements in dual language and ESL. In addition, two of our students placed 2nd in the African-American History Challenge. It is so exciting to recognize the achievements of our amazing students.

At R.M. Marrs we will continue to follow all the safety protocols we have established. This includes all people wearing masks while on campus, sanitizing measures, limiting transitions, and social distancing as much as possible in the classrooms, hallways, and cafeteria. We also will continue to limit visitors to the school, opting for virtual meetings and conferences. Being outside and getting fresh air is important, so we will continue to go outside every day for about 10 minutes.

Please reach out if you have any questions, comments or concerns as we work together for your child’s success in both their academic and social growth. Our counselors, deans, social worker, and administrative team is here to support you and your children.

We are committed to the following for every student:

*A welcoming, safe and supportive environment where each student is known and valued

*High academic growth for every student

*Social emotional learning and character building

Thank you for your ongoing support of our school and community. Again, please review this newsletter to see some of the exciting things we have planned for the rest of this school year and beyond.

~ Ms. Gunderson

Marrs Falcon Families,

We have noticed an increase in the number of broken iPads here at Marrs. As we head toward the end of the year, we want our students to be as successful as they can with their devices.

We need our Falcon families to partner with us to ensure that devices are kept in good working order.

Please encourage students to charge their iPad in a safe place at home. We want to limit breakage from falling on the floor or devices being stepped on.

Please encourage students to keep their device in their backpack when it is not being used.

Many Marrs students have paid insurance for their iPad. However, iPad insurance does not cover if the device is lost or stolen. iPad insurance also does not cover unlimited breakage instances. If insurance has not been paid, then the breakage is not covered.

If the iPad has been broken, an immediate replacement is not going to be available. iPads have to be set up for each individual student. The office will contact the family when the iPad is ready.

Thanks so much for your attention to this matter. We look forward to a strong finish to our school year!
