Celebrating Our Successes
Dear parents and families,
Bravo! Distance Learning is off to a great start at Summit. Students are logged into their Google Classrooms and are joining virtual lessons with their classroom teachers and classmates. These lessons take place whole group, small group, and one on one depending on students needs. This week, students began connecting with Learning Links teachers (AKA Specials) for Innovation Station, Music, PE, Chinese (Grades 2-4), and Library. Please make sure your child is attending these valuable learning opportunities as well their traditional classroom learning times. Just as they would if they were in the building every day. You can find the links to these lessons on your teacher's task lists. Students still need school supplies even during Distance Learning to be prepared for lesson presented by teachers.
In a few short weeks we will transition to our district Hybrid Learning model. While in this model, student will have 2 days of in-person learning and 3 days of Distance Learning. If you have chosen for your child to attend the Virtual Academy, students will continue learning from home for the remaining of the semester, until Winter Break. At this time, parents will be offered the opportunity to continue in the Virtual Academy or return to in-person learning depending on our district current learning model. Please remember, all school supplies are personal and will not be shared with classmates. For this reason, try to label things with students names as best you can.
For students who will joining us for your first day of in-person learning on September 21st (Hybrid A) or September 24th (Hybrid B), we are busy planning and preparing for your first day of in-person learning. For this reason on Wednesday, September 9th and Wednesday September 16th students will participate in independent learning activities as opposed to some live teaching and lessons. Students will not be required to join class meeting or instruction via Zoom and Google classroom, but rather work on the independently guided Task Lists provided by their teacher. This may include some pre-recorded lessons, review of previous material, practice of new skills, etc. Please refer to your child's specific task list for details on those two Wednesdays.
Remember, the building will look a little different as we prepare for social distancing in the hallways, cafeteria, classrooms, and playground. Staff will be here as always to greet you with big smiles and air hugs. More information will follow with a sneak peek into how things will work once you return to Summit for Hybrid Learning.
We can't wait to see you!

PLEASE UPDATE POWERSCHOOL INFORMATION through the Parent Portal
The RCS district has implemented a new online renewal process through the PowerSchool Parent Portal. Summit Road Elementary families have been chosen to pilot this new process before it is released district wide.
This online procedure is intended to replace the paper forms packet which is required to be completed at the start of each school year. You will need to create an account to view your child’s information and confirm that all necessary forms are current/updated for the new year.
The general instructions on how to complete this process can be downloaded below.
If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact the school office at 614-501-5530 or email, pturner@reyn.org
Addresses and Custody Changes must be updated at the Welcome Center
If you have moved from the current address of record or have a change in custody arrangements for your child, you must provide supporting documentation within ten (10) days of the initial change.
Failure to present required documents will constitute a falsification of applications and/or enrollment documents resulting in denial of all new or existing Open Enrollment, Intra-district Agreement or School of Choice requests.
Please call the Welcome Center at #614-501-1033 to schedule an appointment to update these changes.
