Men in WWI
- Men were only allowed in WWI
- Women were supposed to work in factories and pick up the jobs of the men over seas
- African Americans could enlist but they would only do manual labor. They had to be commanded by the French or British to see any combat
- African Americans left Jim Crow Segragation and flooded the northern or western parts of the U.S.
Modern Day Propaganda
- The marines are seen as tough and unstoppable
- This poster depicts that even the devil is scared of the marines
- This is entended to boost support of the U.S. Marines
Name Calling
- This form of propaganda was used to make the enemy seem undesirable
- In this image, the Germans are seen as savage brutes trying to kidnap Lady Liberty
- The targeted audience are young Americans who can enlist in the army
Plain Folk
- This form of propaganda used primarly used to encourage people who couldn't go over seas to help in other ways
- This poster wants citizens to sign a pledge that would ration food supplies so that soldiers could get more food
- The targeted audience are citizens that can't join the army
Testimonial
- This form of propaganda uses a well known figure to endorse a specific product or service
- Uncle Sam wants Americans to join the army and fight for democracy
- The targeted audience are young Americans who can enlist in the army
