Students and families may drop off donations at our school entrance. Mr. Fisher will deliver them to the Village Pantry every Friday after school. A wishlist of their needs can be found on the Amazon Smiles page located here.

The Village Pantry is open to serve the needs of people in Hurst, Euless, and Bedford. They are open Tuesday – Friday from 12:30 pm – 3:30 pm.

They are located at 740 East Pipeline Road in Hurst - in the shopping center with Kroger.

If you have a need, please visit them. If you can donate, please help them. There are many ways to help in addition to canned goods.

Thank you for helping those in need.

Afternoon Pick Up-

PLEASE Be sure you have your Blue Pick Up sign when you walk up and when you drive up to get your child. When driving through the car pick up line-Please make sure your sign is very visible to the person calling out names. It does need to be held up or posted on the window so the sign can be read by the person calling out the names. When it is lying on the dash it is Very hard to read and sometimes cannot be read.

Thank you so much for helping us out with the blue pick up signs

signs.

IF you NEED another sign or a few, please contact your child's teacher.

PLEASE Read with your Child Everyday!

Thank you so much for all that you are doing at home. The most important goal for 1st graders is that they practice reading everyday. We are working hard at school to help all first graders meet this goal. It is truly imperative for your child to be reading for 20+ minutes every day out loud to an adult. We talk daily that the only way to become better at anything is to practice. So thank you in advance for listening to your child read and helping them retell the story. A Saying we say in 1st grade is::

Why do we practice reading?......TO BECOME A BETTER READER!!!

Library day

All First graders visit the library on Wednesday! PLEASE make sure your child's library book is kept in their backpacks when they are not reading them. This ensures the book is not left at home on Library day. Students can check out one book once the previous book is returned.

Library books are students free choice.

Please feel free to read the book to them or have them read to you. Library books are usually not on the student's text level and would not be a good nightly read for every student to read to an adult.. But students love hearing someone read to them. This demonstrates reading fluently and let's them learn the enjoyment reading and learning can bring! So PLEASE keep reading to your child!

PLEASE make sure your child has Fully CHARGED and Working Headphones EVERYDAY.

PLEASE make sure your child has "working" headphones to bring to school everyday. Unfortunately, the students headphones do not last very long. Please check with your child......You child will know if their headphones are working or not.

Headphones are very important to have at school every day with their charged iPad. 1st graders take many assessments on the iPad and need headphones in order to complete the assessment.

Ipads

It is extremely important that students bring their Ipad CHARGED DAILY. We do not have extra chargers or outlets in the classroom to use.

If you are new to the district, you will be given a GCISD ipad and charger for student use in the near future. Students will bring ipads every single day and take them home every day.
