Parents As Teachers (PAT)
Parents As Teachers is a free, voluntary program that serves families with children from prenatal to kindergarten entry. Based on home visits and screenings, the number of visits offered varies family to family. Every child is offered a developmental screening once per year. All Parent Educators are SPS employees and have had extensive background checks. Group connections and access to a resource network are other benefits of participating in the program.
- February 10
- March 9
- April 13
More information regarding PAT can be accessed on the website at https://www.sps.org/ParentsAsTeachers
Blue Jay Student Recognition
- Attendance rewards--Each month, students who have been at school 97.5% of the time or more, with 0 tardies, earn an attendance reward.
- Kindness awards--Each month, the class that has earned the most kindness tickets receives a class party.
- Blue Jay Scholar tickets--Every day, students are recognized for demonstrating P.R.I.D.E. (Positive, Respectful, Independent, Disciplined, and Engaged Learning). Students are able to earn Blue Jay Scholar tickets in a variety of school settings such as in the hallway, in the bathroom, on the bus, during drills, in the cafeteria, on the playground, and demonstrating digital citizenship. If a student receives a Blue Jay Scholar ticket they put it in our all-school mailbox and at the end of the day, names are drawn. If a student's name is drawn they are able to choose a small prize. The Blue Jay Scholar is now the combination of the former Golden Scholar and the Kindness Award.
- Pennants--classes earn pennants when a teacher recognizes another class demonstrating the PRIDE tenants. Each teacher rewards their class with a variety of incentives after they have received a certain number of pennants.
