The Tonasket setting is rural with magnificent topography of mountains and valleys. The Okanogan River, part of the Columbia River system, flows through the town of Tonasket. There are many lakes in the area, some large and others quite small. The climate is best described as semi-arid with four definite seasons.

The Tonasket School District is currently looking to fill a Middle School Resource Room Teacher position starting in the 2022/23 school year.

JOB DESCRIPTION
Middle School Resource Room Teacher
REPORTS TO: MTSS Director and Building Principal
WORK DAYS: Full time, school year
CASELOAD: Assigned annually
SALARY: Certificated State salary schedule.
Middle School Resource Room:
The teacher is responsible for the assessment, planning and implementation of the Individual Educational Programs for special education students in 6-8th grades. This includes designing and implementing direct instructional services, consultation with classroom staff to develop and assist with in classroom accommodations development and monitoring of in-class instructional services and coordination of special education academic and behavior management services to support special education qualified students.
DUTIES: (Other duties may be assigned depending on caseload)
Plans curriculum, lessons, teaching methods, and implements grade level instruction.
Establishes and maintains positive communications with students, parents, and staff.
Provides academic and behavioral instruction for students on assigned caseload.
Evaluates student鈥檚 progress through progress monitoring and data collection.
Manages student behaviors using positive behavioral supports.
Develops, monitors and adjusts Augmentative Communication Systems.
Provides supervision, guidance and training to assigned paraeducators.
Works with classroom and itinerant staff to coordinate IEP goals and objectives.
Function as a member of a Child Study, Multidisciplinary, and IEP Teams.
Monitor student鈥檚 programs and design instruction for areas outside the classroom setting.
Organize and facilitate required assessments and evaluations to support assigned caseload.
Serve as the Middle School Resource case-manager to assess students, develop and implement IEPs.
Establish a structured classroom to maximize learning and ensure the safety of all students.
Monitors student鈥檚 general health status and implements required health interventions.
Provides supervision, guidance and training for assigned paraeducators.
Strict confidentiality required
ADDITIONAL ABILITIES:
Trained in Right Response strategies.
Ability to lift and carry 50 pounds and/or push up to 100 pounds.
Familiar and experienced with technology for high needs students.
EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION:
Must have valid Washington State certification with special education endorsement.
MANDATORY CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Successful clearance of the FBI and Washington State Patrol fingerprint background check.
Successful Washington State Sexual Misconduct clearance.
Completion of Federal I-9, Employment Verification Eligibility form.
