Hughes Academy Weekly Update

September 18, 2023

A Note from Principal Mayes

Hughes Community,

Thank you for another great week at Hughes Academy! Our students and teachers are working hard and we are tracking our data to ensure success. As always, please be sure to check your student's grades, behavior, and peer influences. We are all working on the same team to produce productive and successful citizens.

A couple of things to remember/remind your student.

  1. Students must have IDs on at all times, have their chrome book charged, and be in dress code.
  2. Please talk to your students about grades and communicate with their teachers and counselors when needed.
  3. Get your students involved in our activities. We have a lot going on and would love more participation from parents and students.
  4. Join SIC and/or PTSA
  5. Students who are walking should be reminded to watch for motor vehicles and remain on the sidewalk as best they can.

Individual Graduation Plans

Individual Graduation Plans (IGPs) are beginning for our 8th graders! Mrs. Torlay and Mrs. Gibson spoke to every 8th grader during their science class to chat about High School Graduation Requirements, Magnet programs, GPAs and more! Every 8th grader has to have an IGP meeting with a counselor and a parent or guardian. The goal of these meetings is to review each student’s goals for the future to make sure they are on track for promotion and graduation.

Parents play an important role in helping

students make good choices for high school. Every 8th grader received their IGP invitation with a date and time for their parents to attend their child's meeting. Please RSVP using the QR code.

LIVE SCHOOL

We want to take this opportunity to inform you about an exciting new program that our school has implemented called LiveSchool. This program aims to enhance communication and engagement between parents, teachers, and students.

LiveSchool is an online platform that allows parents to have real-time access to their child's engagement during the school day. Through this program, you will be able to monitor your child's engagement, track their behavior, and stay updated on their performance in the classroom.

In order to access your parent account on LiveSchool, your child should have brought home information containing a unique code and instructions. This code is necessary to set up your account and start utilizing the features offered by LiveSchool. If, for any reason, you did not receive this code and information, we kindly request you to contact your child's teacher, counselor or administrator. They will be happy to assist you and provide you with the necessary details.

We believe that LiveSchool will greatly benefit our school community by fostering a stronger partnership between parents and teachers. It will allow us to work together in supporting your child's educational journey and ensuring their success.

We are excited about the possibilities that LiveSchool brings and look forward to seeing the positive impact it will have on our school community. We believe that by working together, we can create an environment that fosters growth, motivation, and success for all our students.

Thank you for your continuous support and involvement in your child's education. If you have any further questions or need assistance regarding LiveSchool, please do not hesitate to reach out to us.
