Dr. Rachel Williams, Principal
From the Principal
Dear Parents:
I want to congratulate all of our Teacher and Professional of the Year nominees. This year we had a very tight race with exceptional candidates in the selection pool. Great job to Hannah Rome, Cindi McGuire, Sarah Jones, and Jessica Jackson for their nominations. This year our winners are Susan Lubatkin (POTY) and Beth Nation (TOTY). Way to go to our winners! (Please see picture above.)
Susan Lubatkin, who has been a staple at Crabapple Crossing for many, many years is one of the most humble individuals I have ever met. She works as our PE paraprofessional in the gym with Mr. Abel. In his absence, she takes over with ease. They have developed a partnership for all to admire. Susan also works in our YMCA After School Program. Her love for our children is what came across most in her interview with the committee.
Beth Nation has been a teacher at Crabapple Crossing for several years. She is versatile in her teaching and currently serves as a first grade teacher and grade level chairperson. I struggle with the perfect words to describe Beth, but the first things that come to mind are dynamic and professional. Additionally, she is an excellent communicator with her students and families.
I would also like to recognize our employee of the year committee which consisted of Lynn Greene, Anne Bopp, Gary Abel, Kelly Williamson, and Katie Bondi. In addition, we had two parents who volunteered a great deal of time to secure gifts and be involved in the interview and observation process from beginning to end. They are Rhonda McMichael and Meg Ricketts. Thanks, ladies!
A special THANK YOU to the following local businesses that donated gifts for our winners...
*Ace Hardware
*Alpine Bakery
*Brunswick Bowling
*Cabi Clothes (Georgia Hines & Kim Hunter)
*Flowers From Us
*Henry and Pearl
*Hometown Carpet
*Milton Chiropractic
*Nothing Bundt Cakes
*Scottsdale Farms
*Vintage Pizza
*Zaxby's
We appreciate each business for their generous support of our school!
Remember, this week you have a four day weekend. Maybe you are traveling somewhere fun! Traveling feeds my soul and I am fortunate I get to do it often with friends and family. Last weekend, I had the opportunity to visit the Magnolia Silos in Waco, Texas. I am a huge HGTV fan and watch Fixer Upper often so this was a dream come true. Please enjoy a few pics below of my travels with my dear friend, Laurie Woodruff, Principal at Hembree Springs Elementary. Have a great weekend and we look forward to seeing you Tuesday!

Literacy Lunch and Learn - March 1st, 2017
This month at our lunch and learn, we will be discussing the bands of text complexity. If you have questions about the characteristics of readers at the varying F & P levels, this would be a great opportunity for you to come and get some insight. We will also have some time for open questions if you have any other literacy related concerns. Come to the book room from 11 - 12 and bring your lunch if you would like!
