News from Mr. Schettler
Tips about staying informed about your student in school
Many parents make an intentional effort to make sure that their children know that they care about them and that they are interested in what happened in school during the day. This is a great thing and an important part in developing a strong relationship with your child. The common question that is asked is “How was your day?” A common response from the child is “Good”. This response yields very little knowledge about how the day actually went for the student. There are three simple questions that could be used instead to intentionally lead to a more appropriate response and one that leads the child to actually reflect upon his or her day, which is also a good practice.
What are two things that went well today in school?
Is there anything you could have done to make your day go better today?
What do you look forward to at school tomorrow?
These questions do not only help the child to reflect on the day, but they also tend to guide them towards thinking positively about their day and lead them into preparing for the following day. Avoiding conversations that lead to negative talk about other students or events, helps to promote a positive environment for everyone.
If you ever have any questions regarding your child’s educational experience, please do not hesitate to contact your child’s teacher or me. By working together, we can make your child’s years at AES an extremely positive and exciting learning experience!
Have a great week!

0-5 Census Form
Every Minnestoa School District is required by law to maintain an annual birth – 5 year old census. This information is used by the Minnesota Department of Education to determine our District’s share of State Education dollars.
The Adrian School District will use these records to notify district parents about ECFE classes (Early Childhood & Family Education), Preschool Screening (starting at age 3) and Kindergarten Roundup held in the Spring (prior to school entrance).
Please visit our website at www.isd511.net to fill out a census form or call Adrian Elementary at 507.483.2225 for more details.
