What is Media Literacy ?

How I See Media Literacy

Media Literacy?

Media is something that we use in our everyday lives. The media informs us, entertains us, and sometimes distracts us which means there are some good things about the media but there is also some bad. It’s most effective with us students because we use our phones more than anybody. We can’t even sit in a class without pulling out our phones. We all sign up for Instagram, Twitter, Snapchat, etc., but we aren’t always careful when using them. We may not always use them with common sense, but we know how to use them which makes us media literate.

Being media literate will always come in handy because you need to know how to find information, or you will want to know how to stay entertained, or you may even want to know how to post that picture on to Instagram. There is a down side to being media literate because sometimes people don’t know when to stop using the media. They watch TV for maybe 8 hours, stay on Instagram for 4 hours, and the information they find they plagiarize because they get too lazy to put it in their own words because everything is given to them.

The media may be helping us in the world, but it is also bringing us down. We are becoming lazy and making media more important than anything else in this world. Plenty of students rather play video games and be on their phone before doing their homework. It is time to correct media literacy and teach people how to be correctly media literate.

Social Media Reflection

There are many different kinds of social media, and they are used in many different ways. You have the usual sites that people go on to reconnect with people and find out what’s been going on with their old friends that they haven’t talked to in a long time. But, you also have different sites that people use to share their photographs with others, sites that users use to find recipes, and sites that are for different fandoms. What all these different sites have in common is that they connect people with similar interests and make them feel like part of a community, which is something that many people crave. They want to be accepted for who they are and these different sites help to make them feel that acceptance that they are looking for. But, these sites also help others to become more involved in their interests with others on the web who are interested in the same things as they are. There are millions of social media sites. You have varieties of Social Media, from entertainment to dating sites; it’s amazing how you can go from not having a computer that only has "windows" to being able to get on Snap Chat and see each other’s faces and speak to one another from thousands of miles away on your cell phone. It’s phenomenal how technology and social media has come along.

Social media's future is going to be out of this world, just imagine how magnificent it's going to become. It will probably get so real that you could possibly go through the screen of your phone, tablet, or computer; or it maybe get to the point of where the screen will virtually pop up in front of you. In the future, there will no longer be a twitter, Instagram, and etc. it'll be something way better than the last; the new and approved app or website.

Reward Yourself With a Coke

Coca-cola, in their 2013 Super Bowl commercial "Going All the Way", aims to sell their soda by having a young boy on the football team score a touchdown after he looked as if he was unsure of his capability to do so. By the boy making the touchdown it built his confidence and he continued to run across the city all the way to stadium making yet another "touchdown" , and the coca-cola drink acted as a reward for his accomplishment. Coca-cola uses emotional appeal to transfer the effect of self-confidence and being rewarded for accomplishments. The intended audience for the Coca-cola commercial is towards anyone who doubts their capabilities and the coca-cola drink is used as an encouragement for them to accomplish challenges to receive an award (coca-cola drink).

“Can We Auto-Correct Humanity.”

I agree the early 2000 generation can’t live without technology, my generation all we did was go outside, play video if our parents could afford it and watch Disney. For the 2000 generation everything has changed they are 6-7 with an iPhone perfect at using google, would rather look up something then take 5 mins to just think about it when it’s a simple question. Also social media is basically a part of their life, for example my cousin basically live on Snapchat, Instagram, Twitter, Tumbler and Periscope. These kids can’t go more than 24 hours with a mental break down because they don’t have their phone. I think if the parents take up student’s phone every few hours and make them go outside or do something testing there brain then the technology would hurt us. Social media addiction is something that we can control but it will be hard because people follows whatever’s going on that’s popular. For example if actor, singer, rapper, football, basketball, baseball players are on social media as a fan you will be on it to view their lifestyle also for inspiration. Implications of furthering that addiction and not controlling it will led to self-distraction and people will become less smart because technology is solving all our problem with just us human typing the question into google then getting an answer. Our phones are always buzzing the red notification has permeated our lives it’s on all the item we own from laptops, iPod, iPad and phones. Begging us to pay attention, to drop everything and find out what it could possibly be. Technology has become our closest friend, the person we will do anything for, drop anything for, even break away from an important conversation to be with. The bright side about Technology it makes our life easier and faster.
