IMLEA Monday Minute

November 13, 2017

In honor of American Education Week, Horace Mann is funding at least 70 DonorsChoose projects. You can still enter following the directions on this post.

Horace Mann is a long-time partner of IMLEA. Among other things, they fund our Shining Star Awards for students and teachers. Lynn Schmale and his agents do more than just sell Horace Mann's insurance products, designed specifically for educators. Other services include providing free workshops on financial literacy and additional topics of importance, including student loan relief.

Want to nominate a student or educator for a Shining Star Award? Learn more on our website.

INNOVATION DESTINATION

Looking for some resources for STEM, PBL, Genius Hour, or Innovation? Lesson plans or activities? Stories from student successes? Resources for students to use for investigation? Innovation Destination is the official website of the Young Innovators Project, funded, by among others, the Institute of Museum and Library Sciences. There are thousands of searchable items.

We have a collection of bookmarked websites using diigo that might be of interest to middle level educators. You can search within these bookmarks; feel free to request to join the group and add bookmarks as well. This middle level group has over 1000 tagged sites going back several years. Interestingly enough, the most popular tag is 'math'.

In addition to easily creating bookmarks (easy on moblie or through a desktop extension) diigo has several other features. You can even use it to have students collaboratively take notes and annotate saved articles. There is a paid version, but most features can be used for free.
