REPEAT ANNOUNCEMENTS

Reminder from the front office

If there is a change of plans to a child's normal dismissal routine (e.g. child will be picked up instead of riding the bus), please call the office before 11:00 a.m. or send a written note with the child to give to the office. It is helpful when families thoroughly review any changes in routine with the child before they go to school. Thank you in advance for your assistance!

Morning Drop-Off Procedures

Please help us keep our morning drop-off routine operating safely and smoothly by adhering to the following:
  • Remain in your vehicle
  • Pull forward as you are able to
  • Children should exit on the passenger side of the vehicle

Note: If your child requires your assistance with exiting the vehicle, please park in the parking lot and help your child through the cross walk. Again, do not exit your vehicle while in the drop-off lane.

Breakfast Option after 8:10 a.m.

Beginning this week, students that arrive after our school day officially starts (8:10 a.m.) that want to eat breakfast will be given a "grab and go" option to take back to their classroom and eat. This option will consist of a breakfast bar and juice. Our goal with this change is to maximize our instructional day for the students.

Handbook Highlight: Unexcused Absences

Unexcused absences are those where the school has received no verbal or written communication from the parent/guardian as to why the child is not in school. This also includes any absences determined to be unnecessary by school administration. When a student has seven unexcused, or an excessive number of excused absences from school, Sibley County Human Services will be notified.

The following are examples of absences/tardies which may be considered unexcused: Truancy (an absence by a student which was not approved by the parent/guardian and/or the school district), work at home, work at a business (except under a school-sponsored work release program), parent/guardian related work obligations, oversleeping/sleeping in, car trouble, shopping, hair appointment, missing the bus, if suspended from the school district transportation and the child does not come to school, and absences resulting from accumulated unexcused tardies (3 tardies equals one unexcused absence).

The school may also request information from medical personnel in order to excuse excessive student absences that are due to illness. If no documentation from medical personnel is provided, then the absences may be marked unexcused.
