Sunday Night Deep Thoughts
Greetings from California! Hopefully, I will be home tonight around 9:30pm (American Airlines has not been good to me lately, so fingers crossed)
Tomorrow is going to be our chance to kick-off the best school year of our lives! If, all you accomplish tomorrow is connecting with your students, it will be a GREAT day!
"A deep sense of love and belonging is an irreducible need of all people. We are biologically, cognitively, physically, and spiritually wired to love, to be loved, and to belong. When those needs are not met, we don't function as we were meant to. We break. We fall apart. We numb. We ache. We hurt others. We get sick!" Brene Brown
Create a classroom where everyone fills safe, respected, and accepted and our students will be successful!
Here is the game plan for this week!
Be here by 8:20am
Be in prepared for the entire day before 8:20am!
Be at your door no later than 8:30am
Be positive! (think; you can be happy if you let yourself be)
Reminders:
1. Matt Mays from GCISD Communications will be in the building Tuesday morning from 10am - 11:30am
2. Check your lunch time for Monday! Please remind our 2nd period students to check their schedule for lunch to see if they go to 3rd period or to lunch after 2nd period!
3. If you facilitate a Study Hall please make sure students understand Study Hal Expectations on the first day!
4. Greet students at your door every class period!
5. If you have questions or concerns, please ask! We are in this together!

Cav's Concerns
Lauren's Learnings
As we are all anxious to meet our new students and dig deep into our content with them, remember to take time to set the tone for your classroom and be clear with your expectations to your students. We can only develop positive relationships with our students if they are comfortable in our classroom. And students find comfort in knowing clearly what your classroom rules and expectations are: Have them posted, put them in your syllabus, talk about them, reiterate them. Once we develop that solid foundation, then we can build a year of rigorous learning for our kids.
Another reminder: Please remember to review your ISSG data before Friday. If you are in the TSI ISSG, please reference the data that Kristinia Haney provided during the week of 8/5-9.
