Calling All Helena Flats Alumni - 1893-2023

If you attended Helena Flats School, or you know someone who did, we want to hear from you! One of the ways we would like to celebrate 130 years of Helena Flats School is by having alumni send in pictures. Please spread the word to anyone you know who attended Helena Flats School and may have pictures. I would love to feature any photos in each edition of the Chief Chatter as we celebrate this school's amazing history! Please send any photos to allisonhawes@helenaflats.org

Helena Flats School is proud to be 130 years strong!

Meet The Coaches

Coach Cody Holmquist

Cody is truly a family man. He prides himself on being dedicated to his family and being there for his three children Aaven, Ranee, and Ryason in any way possible, constantly trying to find ways to make life better for them, and he goes the extra mile to provide for his family. Cody is a fisherman at heart, and also enjoys spending his time in the woods. One of his favorite times of the year is when he gets to spend all day in the woods hunting and passing down his knowledge to his kids.

Cody played basketball all through school, ending up on the All Star Team. To this day, Cody enjoys shooting hoops with his kids and teaching them about basketball, teaching them to always strive to be the best they can be, and working hard to have fun. It doesn't stop there! Cody dives into practice with Ranee in volleyball, throwing a baseball around, and passing the football with his kids any chance he gets.

To say he's excited to coach the boys and girls basketball teams for Helena Flats would be an understatement! He is truly grateful to have this opportunity.

Parents Needed For Concessions

I know that the following message is also posted in the PTO Corner below, but I cannot emphasize enough how desperately we need parental help! The concessions may not be offered soon if we cannot secure parents who can help. Currently, we only have a parent or two willing to supervise concessions and they cannot continue to be the only people volunteering at every game.

The PTO is in need of parent volunteers to help out with basketball concessions! Some of our students depend on these opportunities to help raise funds for their history trip so if you are able to take a shift to help out, it would be greatly appreciated!

Parent-Teacher Conferences Coming Soon

Mark your calendars for Parent-Teacher Conferences! Parent-Teacher Conferences will be held after school on November 8th and 9th. The links to sign up for conferences will be coming soon! We look forward to seeing you!

Lost And Found

The lost and found is filling up fast!. If you get a chance, stop by the foyer in front of the main office and see if you recognize any of the items. Our wonderful third grade teacher, Mrs. Baker, spends a lot of her own time to keep our lost and found items organized and hung up in a way that makes it easy for students and families to recognize items that might be theirs. Unclaimed items will be donated at the end of this week.

Dressing for Changing Weather

The weather is changing and many students are needing to wear warmer clothing due to the increasingly cooler temperatures and rain. We have had several students freezing at school because they did not choose warm enough clothing or failed to bring a jacket when they left their house. PLEASE make sure your child is leaving home with warm enough clothing and footwear.

Meet Our Incredible Ms. Tina and Our Fantastic Mrs. Agrillo

As we begin this new adventure (school year) together, I would love to profile a different staff member each week. Our staff is too amazing not to share with our fellow colleagues and community members! The staff member whose name is drawn will be interviewed and will provide a picture for the newsletter. I hope you enjoy getting to know the incredible people at our school!

5th Ski For Free Program

In partnership with the Flathead Valley Ski Education Foundation and the Whitefish Community

Foundation, Whitefish Mountain Resort is pleased to announce that they are once again offering free ski passes for the 2023-2024 Winter Season to students currently enrolled in 5th grade! These passes provide unlimited access to skiing or riding for the entire winter season, including night skiing! To register for a pass, each student must complete an application and

pay a $25 administrative fee for processing costs. Please fill out the form found at https://skiwhitefish.com/5th-grade/ with your child; your child should be prepared to answer some questions themselves about why they love winter and what it means to be safe while participating in winter sports. Once the application has been submitted, you will receive an email with a link to pay for the $25 administrative fee and complete the registration process. Passes will only be available for pick up after the admin fee has been paid. If you have already purchased a season pass for your student, please indicate this in the designated area of the application. They will return the purchase price of the pass, minus $25 which will be applied to cover the admin fee. Follow this link to submit your application: https://skiwhitefish.com/5th-grade/ Questions? Please call their friendly Guest and Information Services team at 406-862-2900, Option 1.
