Roadrunner Rally….
It’s almost time for the fourth annual Roadrunner Rally. The rally will be held on Thursday, October 6th during the school day! It’s time for all of us to come together as Roadrunners to raise money for our school. Please encourage your student to ask for pledges from family and friends. Please use the Pledge Form to keep track of the pledges received. Also, you can donate online securely at http://www.hse.k12.in.us/CRE/pto/ . Remember to enter your student’s name, grade, and teacher in the notes box! The CRES PTO only holds two fundraisers a year- The Roadrunner Rally and CRES Fest in the spring. We depend on the success of these events to continue our support of the CRES community! We’re excited to see the great things our Roadrunners accomplish by rallying around the school!

Chaucie’s Place
Cumberland Road Elementary is partnering again this year with Chaucie’s Place, a child advocacy organization in Hamilton County, to bring Smart Steps™: A Body Safety Program for Children to our Kindergarten, 2nd and 4th grade students. Smart Steps™ is a child sexual abuse prevention and education program that empowers your child to say “NO!” to any unwanted touches that make them uncomfortable from anyone.
We invite you to attend a Chaucie’s Place Parent Night to learn more about the Smart Steps™program. Lantern Road Elementary will be hosting from 6:00-7:00 pm on Thursday, September 22nd and New Britton Elementary will be hosting on Thursday, October 13 from 6:30pm-7:30pm. These meetings are open to all parents and/or guardians of Kindergarten, 2nd and 4th grade students. Please be advised that Parent Night is not open to children. To learn more about Chaucie’s Place visit: www.chauciesplace.org.
REPORTING AN ABSENCE, LATE ARRIVAL OR EARLY DISMISSAL
Anytime your child will be late to school or absent, please call the CRES Office at 317-594-4170 to report that absence or late arrival. Often time parents notify the classroom teacher but fail to notify the office.
If your student will be leaving early, please notify the teacher to have them ready at the time you would like them dismissed. Thank you and we appreciate your help.
LATE ARRIVALS
Students arriving after 8:55 am are considered tardy and need to be escorted to the office by a parent to be signed in. If there are no staff outside to welcome your student into the building, please do not drop them off to enter the building alone. Thanks for helping us keep our students safe.
CLASSROOM INTERRUPTIONS
Interruptions due to late student arrivals, early dismissals, delivery of forgotten belongings, homework, and snacks can deter the effectiveness of teaching and learning in the classroom. Please encourage your student to be responsible and remember to bring items needed for school each day. Please refrain from dropping off forgotten items to help teach your child responsibility and help limit unnecessary disruptions.
