The Principal's Nest
Parent Edition- February
February Updates
I hope that the month of February is off to a great start. We are in full swing here and are in the middle of our 3rd quarter. Here are a couple of important reminders and updates
1. Progress reports- Progress reports went home this week. Please take some time to celebrate your students as they move toward mastering their grade level standards.
2. At Risk Letters- If you received an at risk letter with your child's progress report, it is not a cause for alarm. The letter received is a notification that your child may not be reading or performing on grade level. Also, it could be that we see areas of concern that we want to ensure improve before going to the next grade level so that your child will see success. Multiple data points were considered such as MAP, Mclass, Lexia, report card data, attendance, reading fluency, and teacher judgement. In the coming weeks, you will hear from your student's teacher to discuss any areas of concern and assist you with a plan for success for your Wise Owl.
3. Valentine's Day- We know that there will be celebrations galore this week for Valentine's Day. For any festivities that you attend remember to bring your ID so that you can sign in with our Kiosk. Remember, as you bring in items for parties, all food brought in from home should be prepackaged/prepared in a sanitary environment such a food facility. Please check with the classroom teacher to find out if there are any dietary restrictions for students in the class.
We encourage all special deliveries to be sent to the home. If students receive flowers, balloons, or gifts sent to school, the students will be notified during the school day that they have received a delivery. During a non-instructional time, the teacher will allow the student to come to the office to see the delivery. At the end of the school day, the parent can come by the office and pick up the item. No delivery items will be sent to the classroom or will go home on the bus (pg 9 of our student handbook)
