Weekly Newsletter
A Message from Acting Principal Anita O'Neill
January 21, 2024
Last week, our community faced the challenges of frigid temperatures, snow, and ice, limiting us to just one day of instruction. I hope everyone stayed warm and safe during our unexpected snow days. Despite being at school for two of the three days, I found a silver lining in playing in the snow with my pups – witnessing their joy as they sniffed, ran, and wrestled in the winter wonderland. I hope those who wished to enjoy the snow had the chance to do so; it truly was a picturesque scene.
On Thursday, January 18, I shared information about Clarksburg's Code Purple preparations. While we ultimately didn't transition to Code Purple on Friday, it's crucial to keep this information handy for any future weather events. I've included the details in this newsletter for your reference.
Acknowledging that our "winter break" was less than ideal timing at the end of the semester, I understand the importance of this time for students to connect with teachers for reassessments or assistance with critical assignments. I encourage all students to make the most of this week, ensuring punctuality to classes and arranging lunchtime meetings with teachers for additional support. Let's collectively strive for a strong finish to the first semester.
The recent weather also impacted a few scheduled events. Firstly, the PTSA meeting, will now take place on Tuesday, January 30, at 7:00 pm in the Media Center. I eagerly anticipate meeting those who can attend. Secondly, due to the need to reschedule, our personal body safety lessons have been moved from January 16 to January 23. Finally, make sure you review our Week at a Glance in the calendar section of the newsletter for the most up-to-date sports schedule for the week.
Wishing you all a wonderful and resilient week ahead!

Registration for the 2024-2025 School Year
Registration cards and directions were provided to all students in grades 9-11 on December 13, 2023. During the next three weeks, counselors will be meeting individually with students through their English classes to collect the cards and verify that all selections are entered correctly. We encourage everyone to revise course selections prior to meeting with their counselors and making sure they have completed that card with 7 courses per semester, 3 alternatives for their electives and a parent signature.
