Chromebooks for All 6th-8th Grade Students
This Wednesday, there will be a Canvas Orientation lesson imbedded into every class period. It is our hope that 100% of our students will have a device issued by Wednesday morning.
Please email breanna.shofner@isd709.org with questions about OEMS Chromebook Distribution.
Second Step, Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) curriculum
We are excited to introduce Second Step, the social-emotional learning (SEL) curriculum that all ISD 709 pre-k, elementary and middle schools will be implementing beginning Fall 2021. We are taking a district-wide approach with all staff involved to better help our students develop social-emotional skills such as managing emotions, making responsible decisions, problem solving, and maintaining healthy relationships.
Research makes clear that the more holistic a community’s approach to social-emotional learning (SEL), the more benefits there are for children. This includes less unwanted behaviors, more mental health support & understanding, and even increased academics. In a coordinated holistic approach, SEL competencies are taught through explicit skill instruction, practice and reinforcement, as well as through implicit approaches such as modeling our own SEL competencies in day-to-day interactions with students and one another.
We look forward to beginning this opportunity with our students this Fall!

Student Drop Off & Pick up Parking
If you are picking up your child in the afternoon, please arrange to meet at 3:30 P.M., in the back parking lot. Do not park on 4th Street in the afternoon due to the high bus traffic. There are a few buses that pick up students in the back lot, in the afternoon. Delaying your afternoon pick up time by 15 minutes will make a big difference in traffic congestion. We would like to keep bus and vehicle traffic separate as much as possible. If you arrive before 3:15 P.M., park in a space farther from the building so our buses are able to safely pick up students. Thank you for your cooperation!
