The theme of Catching Fire is courage. Katniss Everdeen, also known as "the girl on fire," shows a lot of courage. She never let's fear take over her and she fights through the battle of the Hunger Games and the Quarter Quell.
Personal Connection to the Theme
Courage, a theme of Catching Fire, applies to my life in various ways. Courage is the ability to do some thing that frightens someone.This word tells me to never let fear take over me. If I don't try things I will never learn. I want to be a couragous person just like Katniss Everdeen someday!
Victory Tour
Katniss Everdeen and Peeta Mellark are on their Victory Tour. They are going to all 12 districts as victors of the 74th annual Hunger Games. As they travel to all of the districts, they give their speeches.
The Reaping
Effie Trinket is back for the 75th Hunger Games reaping. This time its the Quarter Quell and the victors are competing again. Katniss and their mentor Haymitch were picked,but Peeta volunteers for Haymitch. So now Katniss and Peeta will be going back to the arena to compete again!
Jabberjays!!!
In this scene Katniss thinks she hears her sister, Prim's voice so she follows it. However she doesn't know that its just the Jabberjays manipulating her sister's voice. Then she starts to here her best friend Gale's voice and follows it. These Jabberjays were driving her crazy!!
Summary
Catching Fire is a book about a girl named Katniss Everdeen and a boy named Peeta Mellark whom which were both victors and star crossed lovers of the 74th Hunger Games from District 12. Just before leaving for there victory tour to all of the districts, President Snow makes a surprising visit to Katniss. As Peeta and Katniss come back from there victory tour, the president has another plan up his sleeve. This year will be the 75th Hunger Games which is the Quarter Quell! This time the victors will be going back. Will Peeta or their mentor, Haymitch, go back in the arena with Katniss? More importantly will they survive?
