Definition: An act of vesting the legislative, executive, and judicial powers of government in separate bodies.

Use: The three branches of government Legislative, Judicial, Executive

Checks and Balences

Definition: Counterbalancing influences by which an organization or system is regulated, typically those ensuring that political power is not concentrated in the hands of individuals or groups.

Use: Balances allows almost all in the political system to have their views heard.

Popular Sovereignty

Definition: The principle that the authority of a state and its government is created and sustained by the consent of its people.

Use: Government policies reflect the wishes of the people


Definition: One possible ideology of governing a society or state as a republic.

Individual rights

Definition: The liberties of each individual to pursue life and goals without interference from other individuals

Use: someone can pick their job and are not told what job they have to do
