Keeping us connected through distance learning
Grateful and Steady in These Uncertain Times
Dear Families,
Thank you for the flood of kind wishes, videos, chocolates and sodas for the staff room last week. I started out in March as things began to get crazy, excited about the new challenge, ways of looking and doing things. Innovation, collaboration and creativity danced in my head and my heart. Then, like almost everyone the rollercoaster of highs and lows began to rattle and roll me over. As we took stock last week to share gratitude and reflect, I returned to those feelings with awe and appreciation for what we have learned these last six weeks about ourselves, one another, our community and our teaching and learning. McNear is made up of incredible staff, students and families who have accomplished magic making and miracles. I am honored to work alongside you and witness the ways in which you cultivate this community.
Many questions are left unanswered, holes in the system are exposed and work to be done is plentiful but please take some time to appreciate all that you and your children have figured out, problem solved, discovered and revamped as you weather these seas. We don't know what next year will look like at school, at home, in our community but we do know that we have one another. We are planning for one more grand exchange of bags the last week of school at which time we can wave from cars and celebrate this journey. Students will be able to keep the iPads over the Summer, accessing all the current apps etc. to keep creating, learning and catching up where needed. I will update you always as things develop and more information comes available.
with gratitude and admiration,
Liza Eichert

Honoring our Sixth Graders
We are excited to celebrate this year's promoting 6th graders. As we are not able to meet in person we will celebrate through a digital format. We are in the process of composing a video with the same elements that we have always had during promotion ceremonies to be posted on Youtube so our school community can experience and celebrate together. It will be wonderful to have this new keepsake. Certificates, programs and goodies will be delivered in the pick up on the last day. Hoping for some decorated cars and banners at school with all the 6th graders parading through during the same window. More details to follow but please reach out to Principal Eichert if you can help with goodies or making banners etc.
