Week of May 20-24

What we did this week...

Greetings Parents/Guardians!

We began this week by taking a trip to the kitchen and prepared homemade tortillas, pico de gallo and guacamole with the Global Gourmet Class taught by Mrs. Davidman. Students were first assigned to make corn tortillas and soon realized that the mixture of the corn flour and water was not durable enough to make into tortillas. Students quickly emptied their bowls and began again with new ingredients to make flour tortillas. These tortillas proved to be easier to make and students quickly found more success with these types of tortillas. (I have included pictures below so you can see the students in action.) In addition to cooking students were responsible for cleaning their kitchen before they could enjoy their Mexican cuisine.

Students learned about the present progressive tense this week (the "-ing") conjugation. Students were assessed on this today (Thursday) and grades will be posted within 24 hrs.

Coming up Next Week...

No School on Monday in observance of Memorial Day!!!

Next week students will be assessed on how to say how long they have been doing a particular activity. (Ex. I have been studying Spanish for 8 months.) This assessment will take place on Wednesday May 29th. Students will also be learning how to talk about the weather and expressions for this purpose. This assessment is tentatively planned for Friday May 31st.

We will be wrapping up our unit 7 the week of June 3rd with a virtual field trip to Argentina that I recently created for an online class.

Final Exams...June 11, 12, 13

I have attached the final exam schedule to the email so that you could have an idea about your child's schedule for the end of the school year.

In addition, there is no "Make-up" day for quarter 4. Students are asked to complete any all missing assignments before the end of quarter 4.
