Hello and Happy August, Cardinals! We are just about there...the start of the next, new, exciting school year. We would like to extend a warm welcome to our returning Cardinals and to the friendly new faces that will be joining us in September! We not only have some new staff and faculty members, but we also look forward to meeting all of our incoming freshmen, as well as any new students joining us from other schools, other cities, even other states! Rest assured, LHS has its arms open wide and we are excited to do our best to make your transition as easy as possible. Welcome to our Cardinal family!

LHS would like to let you know of some changes to our administrative team this year. As you may or may not know, Assistant Principal Jessica Cincotta has moved on to another school district. While we will miss her and the countless positive attributes she brought to LHS, we wish her success and happiness in her new position, and are pleased to welcome Alyson Fischer (formerly the district Athletic Director) into the AP role. As many of you may know, Mrs. Fischer has served in this capacity before and we are confident that she will again be an excellent fit to the position! Finally, Gregg Zenerovitz has officially stepped into the role of Athletic Director! Mr. Z has worked closely with Mrs. Fischer over the past few years and is ready and excited to be an amazing part of the administrative team.

Congratulations to all!

Cardinals on the Move

The Lawrence High School (LHS) Class of 2018 has its first college acceptance! Senior Mei Li Costa committed to Brown University as one of its three 2018 gymnasts entering in September 2018.

Mei is a level 10 competitive gymnast and has been competing for the past ten years. She is currently co-team captain and practices 4 hours a day, 5 days a week. She qualified for Junior Olympic Nationals four times and placed in the all-around in 2016. Mei was also the NJ State all-around champion in 2015, 16, 17.

Summer Warriors

Our first "brag bag" of the year is in honor of those who kept the building functioning smoothly all summer long! Whether you helped to get our classrooms, gym, and hallways ready for learning, kept our offices running without a hitch, worked on scheduling or administrative duties, helped prepare our fall athletes ready for their season, kept our school safe and secure, or did whatever it took to prepare LHS for another school year, we THANK YOU!!!
If you know of a student, teacher, or staff member that deserves a little extra recognition for doing something amazing, please send your submission to kroche@ltps.org. We're looking for unique achievements, exciting news, talent highlights, even random acts of kindness! If possible, please include a picture relevant to your submission.

Oysters can actually clean water! They are filter feeders—that is, they obtain nutrients from phytoplankton in the water they take in through their gills. A mature oyster can filter up to 50 gallons of water per day; you can check out oysters' amazing filtering power in a time-lapse video HERE.
