Tisch's Tidbits
Welcome to 2019!
I hope you all had a wonderful break. The first part of our break was busy with travel and holidays. The second week was pretty laid back at home enjoying time to sleep in and to hang out in our jammies. The second semester is always full of activities leading up to middle school, guest presenters, the school play, and Famous Hoosiers to name just a few. I am looking forward to all of the wonderful events the are up and coming for these amazing children!
Thank you!
Thank you for the wonderful class gift! I will enjoy shopping at Target while sipping on a Starbucks coffee because of your generosity. Thank you, also, for all of the individual gifts I received. I was completely overwhelmed by your generosity!! I'm so blessed by all of you!
Field Trips
We have a few field trips coming up! The first will take place on Tuesday, February 5 to the middle school. No need for chaperones or a lunch as we won't be gone very long. The purpose is to see all of the musical groups at ZMS and to learn about instruments your child can play. Your child will then choose to be part of choir, orchestra, and band. A form will come home to be completed and returned. Also, that evening will be a parent meeting at the middle school. Things are getting real!!!
For the second field trip will be going to Conner Prairie on Wednesday, February 13th. The price is $6.50 a student. We will need volunteers for this field trip! If you'd like to attend, please send me your name and I will keep a list. If more than four parents sign up, I will randomly draw names. Please let me know by Friday or before if you'd like to attend. Thanks!!
NWEA
We will be completing our midyear NWEA testing next week in the mornings Tuesday-Thursday. Friday morning will be a make up day. It is a celebration of showing what we have learned thus far! We will take the final assessment in April.
Spelling Bee
Hello Parents,
Please fill out the following visitor link if you will be attending Friday’s Spelling Bee. If any family members will be attending, please make sure they also fill out the link.
Thank you for your help with check-in,

Good-bye, Jake
Our sweet friend, Jake, moved back to South Carolina over break. We will miss him greatly and his sweet personality.
Report Cards
I am in the midst of finalizing report cards for the first half of the year. I'm so proud of this class and what they have accomplished thus far! Please remember that a P on a report card means your child is still working on that skill. It could also mean that we are still working on the skill moving into the next quarter and I don't have enough data to show mastery yet. The goal is to earn mastery by the end of the year. In addition, you child may have earned a + in the first quarter and now may have a P. This probably means we have upped the difficulty level with the skill as the year has gone on. For example, in the first quarter area may be 8 ft. x 3 ft. Now, it may be a figure your child has to break into several smaller quadrilaterals and then add the various areas together to get a total area. If there is a major concern, I'll be sure to reach out to you.
Postcards
Our class is participating in a postcard exchange with classes in other states. We have already received a few from other states! It's so exciting to get real mail! If you are out and about and see postcards affiliated with Indiana, we would love it if you could purchase a few for the exchange. We would like to complete our part of the exchange by the end of the month. Thanks in advance for your help!
Valentine's Day
We look forward to celebrating Valentine's Day with our students at their classroom parties on Thursday, February 14th. This is a wonderful opportunity for us to emphasize the lifeskill of friendship with all of our students. As you are out shopping for Valentines, please select cards and/or trinkets that are inedible. This could include pencils, erasers, stickers, etc. Candy will not be distributed. Thank you for ensuring that all students can have a safe and fun celebration.
Recess
As a reminder, if the windchill is between 10-20 degrees, it varies if we go outside for recess. If there is snow on the ground, our school policy is that snow pants and snow boots are required. Your child is more than welcome to put these items in a bag and leave them in their locker if it makes your life easier. I don't know about you, but frantically trying to find everyone's stuff in the morning, bags that were large enough to fit all of the items and labeling the items stresses me out. :)

Meet Miss Tamburini!
Hello families! My name is Jordan Tamburini, and I will be your child’s student teacher this spring semester starting today and ending on May 8. I am a senior at Indiana University majoring in elementary education with a reading license addition. Some of you might recognize my name because I have worked at Z-Camp for six summers! I also went to Zionsville Community Schools, and I am thrilled to have the opportunity to work alongside Mrs. Tisch (who was my second grade teacher at Stonegate:)). I cannot wait to get to know your kiddo. I know that we will do a lot of learning together! Here is a photo of my new kitten, Sushi, and me.
