January 2015
Welcome Back!
We are planning a very exciting semester from I-STEP to Field Day! Our classroom is working hard preparing for the upcoming I-STEP test. Attendance is vital these next months as we prepare for the I-STEP because I will be introducing new concepts that will appear on the test. I am very excited to begin working on Grandparent's Day and a couple surprise field trips that are pending approval!
The donations for the New Beginnings Pregnancy Center were graciously received and very much needed and appreciated. It warms my heart to see the kids helping people they will never meet with such excitement.
The Lifelines for this month are Courage and Effort. Mr. Hopkins read a book about Rosa Parks to help the students understand what courage really means. Later this month, we will have another teacher in the building come in the classroom and read a book and discuss the lifeline of effort. Please discuss these important Lifelines with your child.
Remember to keep reading with your child and keep their math facts sharp by quizzing or using flashcards. Data and studies show that only a few minutes each day will make an amazing difference in their vocabulary and math computation.
I will keep you updated and informed about the upcoming events, I am including a list of some of the upcoming events for the month of January.
- Monday, Jan. 19 - NO SCHOOL, Martin Luther King, Jr. Day
- Thursday, Jan. 22 - PTO Meeting at 7 pm in the library
