Visual Thesaurus Training
October 3, Sioux City AEA, Room D
Learn More About Visual Thesaurus
Visual Thesaurus is an online resource NWAEA has had for about a year now. One of the trainers for Visual Thesaurus is going to be in Iowa and will be doing two, 1/2-day trainings in Sioux City on October 3 in room D. Both sessions will be the same. The first session will be held from 9 -11:30 a.m. and the second will be from 12:30-3:00 p.m.
This hands-on (bring your computer) workshop aims to familiarize participants with the basic Visual Thesaurus features and how these features can enhance students' academic vocabulary development. There will also be an emphasis on the Common Core standards. Participants will explore Visual Thesaurus word maps and learn how they can prepare students to read challenging texts by previewing vocabulary through the interactive literacy tool VocabGrabber. Participants will also experiment with the adaptive Vocabulary.com program and various vocabulary enriching activities that they can use in the classroom.
