Mark Your Calendar

We are excited to open our doors and have families be present in classrooms! Masks are encouraged, but not required. The evening will be informal and more about families being able to share experiences that students have during a typical day.

Monday, August 9

Session 1: 6:00-6:40PM

Sesson 2: 6:40-7:20PM

Both sessions are identical so you can visit more than one class if needed.

The sessions are designed for adults, please make arrangements for little ones.

If unable, we certainly do not want that to keep you from attending.

Great News! School Dismissal Manager COMING SOON!

We know that communication is important regarding transportation. In order to be most efficient with communication and ensure our dismissal process has safety as a top priority we will transitioning to using School Dismissal Manager very soon and not rely on students transporting messages to staff.

  1. Be on the lookout for more information from Mrs. Rich regarding details for families.
  2. You will receive directions on how to set up your personal account soon.

We recommend practicing the default dismissal as soon as possible with your child so the transition to the new system will be smooth. We also understand life happens and you may need to make a change and getting used to going online will take time.

  • All dismissal changes will be done by families online.
  • Changes must be made before 1 PM to alert classroom teachers.
  • Teachers will be instructed to use Dismissal Manager for dismissal and not able to check email or accept notes regarding transportation changes.

For Bus Riders

Masks are required for all students on buses per federal guidelines.

  • Check Skyward for your bus number, the location of your bus stop, and times for pick-up and drop-off.
  • Please be at your bus stop five minutes early.
  • Kindergarten students must have a grown-up at the bus stop to get them on and off the bus.
  • Please contact the office before 1:00PM with any transportation changes.
  • We will begin using School Dismissal Manager to handle all transportation changes by Labor Day. Watch for details to come soon.

For Car Riders

Mornings:
  • Before 7:30AM, students must remain in their cars.
  • The car line forms in front of the school building as two rows of cars that narrows at the turn-around to one line at the curb.
  • Car line drop-off begins at 7:30AM when staff come outside to assist students.
  • Students must exit the car on the curb side only.
  • Car line drop-off will end when the car line has emptied.
  • If you are running late to join the car line and there is no adult staff outside to supervise your student, you must walk your student in to the Main Office and sign them in.

Please keep our kids safe! Be patient and stay alert.

Please see map below for traffic flow.

Afternoons:

  • The car rider line forms in the same way as the morning.
  • Please wait in your car as our staff calls for your students to come to you.
  • Car line pick-up will begin by 2:05 PM.

Speech and Hearing Screenings Update from Mrs. Nolan, M.A. CCC-SLP

Speech screenings will be completed for Kindergarten, 1st, and 2nd grade students and you will be contacted via phone and letter if your child would benefit from speech therapy services in the school setting.

If you are not contacted, you can assume your child passed speech screenings for their developmental age level (see chart below for district wide norms).

Hearing screenings will be completed for Kindergarten, 1st, 4th, and any new students who move to the HSE school district. Students will receive a slip of paper to send home to families if they passed. If they fail the screening, the student will be re-screened in 2-3 weeks and a referral will be sent home at that time if hearing continues to be a concern.

Feel free to contact me via email (cnolan@hse.k12.in.us) if you have any questions about your child’s speech or hearing abilities. Thanks for your support— let’s have a great year!
