Dorr Families,
Happy Summer Break to our Dorr Families! Dorr has had a successful year once again this year, maintaining their “Highly Effective” status in academics. Our students have engaged in many fun activities which is something our staff set upon in the midst of another year of pandemic. “Bring the fun back to learning!!” We would like to thank you for your continued support and help throughout the year. Your support is vital to student success.
If you have new families who move into your neighborhood please encourage them to register for Wayland Union Schools by going to the district website. Some important dates for the 22-23 school year are included in this Dorr Press.
Have a wonderful summer break and we look forward to seeing you in August,
Best Regards,
Mrs. Seniura

Distinguished Artist
Dorr Elementary has a Distinguished Artist Program in which student artwork is on display like an art gallery for the school year. Each year 9 students are chosen as a Distinguished Artist. The distinguished artist is a student who is responsible in art, shows their creativity and works hard on all projects. Ms. Corcoran chooses 3 to 4 pieces of artwork in which the students followed directions and completed the project adding their creativity. A committee of staff members then votes on the projects to choose the winner.
This months Distinguished Artist is 3rd Grader Owen Hudson!
Third graders were introduced to the flower paintings of American artist Georgia O'Keeffe. Owen used oil pastels to create his beautiful drawing. Owen always has a positive attitude in art and shows kindness and consideration to others. He approaches each project with enthusiasm and strives to do his best.
Congratulations Owen!
Dorr Business Association Citizenship Award
When the employees in the school began thinking about this year’s citizenship award they had to think about students who had exemplified the “3 B’s” - Be Respectful, Be Responsible, and Be safe - “even when no one is looking”.
The choice was difficult because there are so many good citizens at Dorr Elementary. A good citizen is involved in making their community a better place.
Brooklyn Standish
The young lady representing our third grade class for the Dorr Business Association's Citizenship Award this year makes everywhere she goes a better place. Her leadership skills, her determination, and her work ethic were displayed in the classroom, on the soccer field, and as a student council member. She never hesitates to ask anyone around her if they need help or a hug. I’m sure her family could not be more proud of her for sharing these great learned qualities with everyone she interacts with within the school and within her community. We are proud to announce Brooklynn Standish as the recipient of the 2022 Dorr Business Association's Citizenship Award.
Maverick Kasprowicz
Citizenship is defined as the sense of belonging to a community and having the rights and responsibilities that come with it. So what makes a good citizen? A good citizen cares for himself and others, is continuously learning, builds positive friendships, and does his part as a member of a community. This student does all of these things. He is a very respectful and responsible friend and student, even when no one is looking. Schoolwork comes easy to him but he never takes the easy way out. He is constantly learning and looking for a challenge and doing his best work. He is an exceptional leader and can often be seen helping other students with their work in a very patient and helpful manner. He is an encouraging friend both in and out of the classroom and is never seen without a smile on his face. Finally, this young man values and respects the community of students around him. He is an incredible role model for all and others follow his lead, making us all better people when we are near him. These are just some of the many reasons MAVERICK KASPROWICZ is the recipient of our Dorr Business Association award this year.
