The 12 Days of GRITmas
The office will host a GRITmas tree and once students have completed at least one of the challenges for a value, they can come and write their accomplishment on an ornament to hang on the tree. Some of the challenges will be during school and some will be at home or in the community. If you catch your child showing GRIT, you can tag them on our Instagram with #12DaysofGRITmas. We hope to fill our tree with so much GRIT that you cannot even see the branches!
Here is a sneak peak at the first three challenges of Gratitude on December 5-7:
1) Historical Costume Closet give-back - do you remember the Wax Museum project or the Walk through the Revolution from elementary? Are those costumes still sitting in your closet? We would love for you to show GRATITUDE and giving by bringing them and donating them to Smith Elementary. We will have bins in the office for you to drop off the Martha Washington's and Abe Lincoln's that no longer fit! Please place in a bag and tag your bag with your name and the name of the costume.
2) Purchase Holiday Grams from ASB to show someone they are special to you. Write them a note of thanks on the grams and they will be delivered by ASB the following week!
3) Give a thoughtful compliment to at least two people you do not know.
We hope to have all our Jr. Oilers celebrate the holiday season by showing GRIT and doing great things at school and in the community. Stay tuned for Days 4-12!

Some of the pieces will be hung in the Central Library until this Sunday. All of these entries will now move on to the Huntington Union Council PTSA judging. Good luck, Jr. Oilers!
Mrs. Bollinger rewarded one of her students with a Gratitude GRITband. Julius M. is making great progress in his classes and Mrs. Bollinger is grateful for his effort.
Students in Miss Mazzera's class learned about convection currents using ice, hot water, and dye. It makes so much more sense when you can actually see it!
Even during 7th period on Friday, students were hard at work in the hallway collaboration spaces.
