Maire newsletter: March 15th edition
Dear Maire Families
We are looking forward to Spring Conferences here at Maire next week. This opportunity will focus on the amazing accomplishments and growth your child has shown this year. I am incredibly proud of the students for all of their efforts so far. As we look toward the future, our staff will continue to work with you to set goals for your child and finish out the year on a strong note. Thank you for partnering with us to educate your child. (Haven’t signed up for a conference yet? Click here Sign-Up Genius )
I also want to recognize that right now there is a lot going on at the district level that has caused some anxiety or concern. I firmly believe that the Blue Ribbon Committee is made up of valuable, insightful, and passionate people who all have the best interests of our district at heart. The Board has asked for us to examine our district, to look for opportunities, to make some changes. While change can be difficult, I trust that the administrative team in GP, the Blue Ribbon members, and the Board are all taking this seriously, thinking deeply, and using a transparent process to make decisions that they believe are the right decisions. The best source of information is on the district website.GP Blue Ribbon Link I am happy to help answer any questions, and if I don’t know the answer, I can connect you with someone in the district who will know. Whatever happens, GP will continue to provide an amazing educational experience for your kids.
Our staff is looking to upgrade our learning spaces here at Maire. With all of this uncertainty, we have been waiting to make any large purchases for our school with PTO funding. However, we are making a purchase to support teaching and learning, and upgrade our spaces in a small, yet impactful way. PTO approved for every classroom to get a new whiteboard table for small group instruction. These are teacher-tables where students can meet and write using dry-erase markers right on the table top to show their thinking. This is our first step towards modernizing our learning spaces and our staff is very excited to use these tables to impact instruction for your kids. Our community has been very generous, and I want to make sure we are responsible with our purchases during this time of potential change.
Sincerely,
Ryan Francis,
Principal

Maire Messages from the Office
- In the event that you have to drop your children off late in the morning, please know that you MUST come in the office to sign them in. They cannot simply be dropped off to come in by themselves.
- If you plan on picking your child up early, please make sure the teacher has enough advance notice. This allows for a smooth transition and less confusion for everyone.
- The weather is gradually getting nicer, but there is still some wet weather/ puddles around the playground. Please consider sending a change of pants & socks to school for your child (yes, even the older kids!) If they get wet, this will prevent us from having to call home.
More new Maire Bears!
Lunch menu changes!
- PIZZA DAY is on Wednesday, 3/20 next week, since we have 1/2 days on Thursday & Friday.
- Coming in April: We have added several new items into our rotation that we think students will enjoy. April's menu will be available later this month but new items include: breakfast sandwich, Philly cheese steak sandwich, fresh roasted broccoli (as a side), and Sunbutter banana roll-up. If you are unfamiliar with Sunbutter, it is a peanut butter substitute made from roasted sunflower seeds.
