Champions - Parents Night Out

Family Enrollment Night is Tuesday, May 15th from 6:00pm to 8:00pm. This event will be free to everyone. During the event we will be showcasing the program as well as our summer camp program. Pizza and snacks will be served. Games and activities will be offered. Come and join the fun!

Field Day is May 21st!

It is one of the students' favorite days of the year and you can be part of it. Field Day is a fun finale to the school year and we need volunteers. There is a morning session (2nd and 4th graders) and an afternoon session (1st and 3rd graders). We need 20 volunteers for each ~1.5 hr session. Mr. Chaney and other teachers have everything planned. As a volunteer, you will work one of the stations and help the kids with that given event. Easy and fun! http://www.signupgenius.com/go/4090b44abaa2ca1f58-maple

Maple Dale Book Swap- May 14 & 15, 2018

Maple Dale Elementary students are invited to participate in a Book Swap on May 14 and 15, 2018. Bring in your gently used books and trade them in for “new to you” books to read! Here’s how the Book Swap will work:

From April 30, 2018 to May 11, 2018 students may bring in any ‘gently used’ books to their classroom for donation. We will be collecting (Kindergarten through 4th grade appropriate) books brought in by each student.

May 14th/15th students will be invited to visit the Book Swap tables and select a book(s) of their choice. The number of books students will be allowed to select will be based on the number of books that are donated in total. The more books we get, the more books students will be allowed to take home! However, if a student is unable to donate a book they will still be able to choose a book(s) on the day of the Book Swap.

Please consider volunteering for the Book Swap-

A BIG thank you!

The district's first accessible Gaga Ball Pit has been completed at Maple Dale by the PTO. Students will have lessons in gym class over the next four days to teach everyone the rules. Big thanks to Scott Lambert and Brian Gath for all their hard work to pit it together! :) And, another THANK YOU, to the PTO and GLOW RUN for the purchase of the Gaga Ball Pit! Our students are already having a BALL!

Help Wanted: Volunteers Needed

The PTO hosts a breakfast each year to celebrate the entire staff and faculty of our beloved school. PTO volunteers cook up delicious breakfast dishes, and bring prepared foods/drinks to be enjoyed in the morning before school starts. This year's celebration is on Monday, May 14. This sign-up will include 12 casseroles, muffins, bagels, fruit, milk, and orange juice. These dishes can be dropped off at Maple Dale the morning of the breakfast (between 7:30-7:45 am) or they can be dropped off at my house the day before. http://www.signupgenius.com/go/20f0d44aeae28a1ff2-2018

Did you know that Maple Dale & WHA have been sister schools for 10+ years?

A few facts about Winton Hills Academy:

Current enrollment is 400 students, preschool – 6th grade

99.2% of their students qualify for free/reduced lunch

The school does not have any support from a PTO of their own

4th-6th grades received an “A” rating in math and reading in 2014/2015.

Their building was built in 2005. It is beautiful, clean and bright, with fun paintings on the walls, smiles on children’s faces, and passionate teachers.

“We are giving the children the experience of a middle class school education in a lower class world. Then they can choose what they want for their lives.” Dr. Tina Russo, Principal 1998 -2015

Maple Dale After School Enrichment Needs You!

Maple Dale ASE is looking for new chair members for the 2018 – 2019 program and beyond. We have several parents who are entering their last year at Maple Dale. We need new members to start so they take over ASE after the 2018 – 2019 school year.

2018 – 2019 ASE will take place for 6 Mondays starting January 28th, 2019

Below are the roles and what they entail:

ASE - Chair

  • Coordinate ASE class offerings
  • Create flyers with class descriptions and pricing
  • Coordinate with Sycamore Nutrition to plan for snacks
  • Work with Maple Dale Office Staff to get rooms approved for upcoming classes
  • Coordinate the ASE team before and during registration to make sure everything is going smoothly
  • Work with the PTO Treasurer to coordinate payments through the Transaction Center
  • Attend all ASE sessions to help manage snack time, make sure there are no issues with classes, and ensure that all children are picked up

The commitment is from October through March, and most of the work can be done remotely, with the exception of the 6 Mondays during ASE.

ASE - Snack Time and Classroom Volunteers

  • Set up the SignUpGenius for volunteers for snack time help and classroom volunteers

The commitment is from January through March. Most of the work can be done remotely, but it is ideal if this volunteer could attend all ASE sessions to help with snack time.

ASE - Online Portal Management – Role Filled

ASE – Scholarships – Role Filled

The ideal volunteer will be someone who can commit to the program for a minimum of 2 years.

If you have interest in getting more involved and would like to hear more about each role please feel free to contact Belinda Busemeyer via email (belindabusemeyer@gmail.com) or by phone 513-373-2240.

Thank you for your consideration.

Summer Bridge Program Info Kit

Each summer, several parents ask me about what to use when working with their child to sharpen skills over the summer months.

There are online tools available to our Maple Dale students such as Raz Kids and Compass Learning throughout the summer.

Another more "portable" option is a workbook. One I recommend is Summer Bridge. I know we get one each summer and my daughter Caroline has a "school" time each day. She is motivated to finish her bridge book before school begins and we reward her efforts with a special outing of her choice at the end of the summer.

The order form below offers the books to you at a reduced cost. The online ordering form will allow you to order online and have the book shipped directly to your home. Maple Dale is not making a profit on these materials, simply offering them to you as an affordable option.

Summer will be here before we know it!

Ann Marie Reinke

Parents will visit our dedicated ordering website for this option and order online ( www.SummerBridgeDirect.com ). They will need to use the school code: “MAPLE”

We then ship the books directly to their homes.

Most orders ship within 24 hours and they will receive a confirmation email from us with post office tracking #’s.

Mental Health Matters

This is the final installment of Mental Health Matters at Maple Dale! This month is National Foster Care Month. In this blog, I have provided a video, infograph, and classroom supports that capture the complications that could come with students who have transitioned through multiple foster care homes. Whether you have a student in Foster Care now, in the past, or will in the future, this is a very important installment!

Thanks again for your kindness and support as I piloted this website!

All the best,
