Foster School Communications
Beginning of the Year - 8/20/20
From Mr. Ramsey
Dear Foster Families,
On Thursday night, the Mt. Lebanon Board of School Directors voted to begin the 2020-2021 school year fully remote. This was a difficult decision. We know that there are mixed emotions about this decision. We want to assure you that we are ready to provide the children with a dynamic learning experience, regardless of the situation.
Foster School is an amazing school with an amazing community and we will do everything possible to support our students and our families. I will be communicating via this eblast system to let you know what is going on as we approach our first day of school on August 31st for grades 1-5, and Kindergarten on September 2nd. Please know that things will be different in our virtual learning platform but Foster is here for you. I would like to take the opportunity to welcome our newest staff members:
- 1st Grade (3rd Section) - Mrs. Carly Philips
- 2nd Grade (long term substitute for Mrs. Schappell) - Ms. Regina Sandora
- Head Custodian (replacing Mr. Fortney) - Mr. Jeff Brooks
I will be providing weekly e-blasts with all the information you will need. Please note that we are always open to suggestions so please do not hesitate to email your child's teacher or me with anything you may need. Please check your email regularly for all information updates.
Thank you for all you are doing for Foster and your children during this difficult time. We will persevere and will be #FosterSchoolStrong (our new Foster School Twitter hashtag).
All the best,
-Jason Ramsey
Principal

STUDENT MATERIAL DISTRIBUTION SCHEDULE
Foster School will be setting up times for families to come to the building to pick up materials that teachers will have prepared for them for remote instruction. ALL Material will be placed in the gym by grade level and homeroom. YOU WILL ALSO PICK UP YOUR TECH DEVICE AT THIS TIME IF YOU SIGNED UP FOR ONE.
The dates will be August 27th and 28th following the schedule (both days) below. Families with the last name beginning with the letters:
- A-F - 9:00AM-10:00AM
- G-L - 10:00AM-11:00AM
- M-R - 11:00AM-12:00PM
- R-Z - 12:00PM-1:00PM
- Anyone who could not make the above listed times - 1:00PM-6:00PM
For the safety of students, staff, and families, we are implementing the following process for student material pickup that allows families to pickup materials in a manner that prevents or mitigates the spread of COVID-19. Additionally, this process employs physical distancing measures, universal masking, and other applicable guidelines provided by the Pennsylvania Department of Health and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
Any family that is not able to pickup school materials because they have a member of the family that feels sick, has an elevated temperature or has been around someone that has been ill in the last 14 days, should send an email with their name and circumstances to Mr. Ramsey. These individuals should not come to the building until the health issue is resolved.
