Spring Concert Letter

Dear Parent(s),

The spring concert is May 5th at 7 p.m.

Please have your child at the Ames City Auditorium at 6:45, band students should arrive at 6:30. All kindergarten students should meet in the hallway behind the stage. Students, grades 1-5 have assigned seats that they should remain seated at as soon as they arrive. The kindergarten students may leave after they have sung. If they stay for the entire concert, please save a place for them to sit with you during the remaining part of the concert. We expect students in grades 1-5 to stay for the entire concert. It should last approximately one hour.

Your child should be dressed in their school uniforms. However, if your child is in band, they need to wear khaki pants or skirts(no shorts) and a red polo shirt.

Monday, May 5th the entire school will be practicing in the morning. Please refrain from making any appointments that morning.

Band students: Please drive all band students to the auditorium and arrive by 7:30 to practice. Please take all younger siblings, or those not in band, to school. They will not be practicing until later in the morning. Band students need to arrive that evening at 6:30.

The children and I are all looking forward to the concert. See you there!

Jeans Day - Friday, April 25

We will be having a jeans day next Friday, April 25th. We are holding this jeans day to support all St. Cecilia staff and parishioners who have been affected by cancer. We are asking you to wear a pink shirt or pink hat with your jeans. The money we collect will be donated to Mary Greeley Oncology Center. The suggested donation is $1. If you want to send a check, please make it payable to St. Cecilia School. Thank you for your support.

Dear St. Cecilia parents and families,

Last week I was diagnosed with breast cancer. Surgery is scheduled for Monday, April 21. This is treatable and beatable. We have an excellent plan in place thanks to the fine medical staff here in Ames.

Thank you in advance for your prayers and kindness. The support found at St. Cecilia School is like none other! My family and I feel so blessed to be a part of such a great community!

Sincerely,

Angi Nespor

Kindergarten Associate and All-School-Mass Music Leader

Calling all 3rd and 4th Graders!

We are recruiting for our First Lego League teams

Ever wonder what FIRST LEGO LEAGUE is all about? Come see what it's all about on Tuesday, April 22 - 3:30 - 5:30 in the Multi-purpose room. If you're interesting in our FLL team for next year or if you just want some more information... we'll be playing with robots, doing team-builders and answering questions. Parents are more than welcome to come and learn about what's involved.

Scrip

Did you know that your Scrip credit is automatically entered into your tuition account on a quarterly basis? It will not show up on your bank statement, but will show on your tuition statement each quarter, always being a quarter behind. This will show as a 'Payment Credit' on your tuition statement. Tuition statements are mailed each semester. If you pay monthly, you will need to inform the school office if your ACH amount needs to be changed. Otherwise, all credit will be carried over to the next school year, unless the student is graduating.

If you have any questions about Scrip, please contact Bev Williams or Shannon Schroeder at scrip@stceciliaschoolames.org

Notes from the Principal

GALA

St. Cecilia Parents,

I know you have seen publicity for the upcoming St. Cecilia’s Gala on April 26th. I hope you can join us for the evening. The event is the major fundraising event for St. Cecilia School and the additional education programs of the parish.

Catholic schools are dependent on parent tuition, parish support, and fund raising for their survival and your participation at the Gala will help our school to continue providing the high quality educational programs found at St. Cecilia. I hope to see you that evening, but if you cannot attend because of a conflict, please consider contributing to the Gala with a donation to “Fund a Need” or a donation to the Gala.

I encourage you to check out the Gala web site, http://www.stcamesgala.org/ , for a preview of the various auction items, the menu, and the program for the evening. Invite your friends and join us for the evening!

Thank you for your past support and I look forward to seeing you for an evening of fun on April 26th at the Gala.

Out of District Transportation Services/Second Semester

Notice to nonpublic parents regarding public school district

transportation services:

Iowa Code Section 285.1 requires public school districts to provide transportation services to resident nonpublic students that are entitled as per that section. How the transportation service will be provided is to be determined by the public school district. When funds are appropriated by the Iowa General Assembly and if your public school district has selected “Parent Reimbursement” as their transportation service type of choice and you meet the transportation entitlement policy provisions of the public school district in which you live and the nonpublic school being attended has been accredited by the Iowa Department of Education, you are entitled to parent reimbursement as per Iowa Code Sections 285.1, subparagraph 3 and 285.3. (Iowa Code, Section 285.3) If your public school district selects the “Parent Reimbursement” option, it is your responsibility as the nonpublic parent or guardian to notify your resident public school district that you have children attending an accredited nonpublic school and its location. In addition, specific information, as requested on this form, must be submitted by the nonpublic parent or guardian no later than December 1st (for first semester reimbursement) and May 1st (for second semester reimbursement), each year. Failure to submit this request by the above deadline each semester will result in the denial of the reimbursement request for the claim period.

Please choose your appropriate school form, print, complete and mail to the address on the form.
